My first time staying at a B&B . I stayed in the Captains room, which was very warm and cozy. The softest sheets ever!! Mary and Dave were very kind and welcoming. Great first time experience. The home is beautiful inside and out. I would highly recommend to anyone. Looking forward to the next visit. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!

My daughter and I were touched by the kindness and sincerity of Mary and David. It felt like we were visiting friends of friends. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and we felt very much at home, which was especially nice as we were on the last day of a week-long college tour. They recommended the perfect restaurant for fresh seafood... More

This is the second time we’ve stayed at this lovely B&B, and it was just as warm and inviting an experience as the first time. Dave and Mary are very gracious, welcoming hosts. They are very sincere and accommodating. They made our stay one of the most pleasant aspects of our visit. We’ve stayed in both main bedrooms now, and... More

Gracious hosts at a delightfully relaxing B&B. I highly recommend it if u are looking for quaint New England hospitality. Very clean, quiet, and super comfy beds. Absolutely the best pancakes I've ever had with enjoyable morning conversation. Not too many great spots to stay in this area of Connecticut unless you are fine with Motel 6-like places, so I... I want to start by saying that I never write reviews but I would be doing Captain Josiah Cowley’s Place an injustice if I didn’t. This B & B is OUTSTANDING to say the least. The place is conveniently located next to the highway and easy to get to (which has no impact on how quiet and serene the nights... More

Lovely 1730 frame house with large yard that includes maple-trees the owners tap for the syrup to pour on Dave's delicious pancakes. We had spacious room and bath upstairs, but narrow stairway for carrying luggage. Owners very kind and helpful, recommending restaurants and sights plus giving us a card for free appetizer or dessert at Anthony Jack's in Southington. Dave... More

My wife, daughter, and I stayed at this B & B in the beginning of June for several days. The historic home has a great appeal and is decorated very appropriately. Mary and Dave made sure we had everything we needed. The location is great, allowing quick access to restaurants, attractions, and the major highways. We would recommend this B... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at Captain Josiah Cowles Place. Mary and Dave are perfect hosts, making great recommendations for sightseeing and dining. The house is historic, of course, but also quite welcoming. The area has lots of attractions and the B&B, just two minutes from the freeway exits, is close to Hartford, New Haven, Waterbury, and other spots... More

Captain Joshua Cowles Place was the ideal place for us to stay over on our trip from Boston to Pittsburgh. Mary and David Potter were very gracious hosts and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The large room and the bath were spotlessly clean well equipped. The breakfast was a treat, too. We will... More

I recently stayed at Dave & Mary's charming B & B - and it couldn't have been lovelier! The room was large and comfy with every amenity. Dave & Mary were wonderful and charming - and made us a fabulous breakfast of pancakes and homemade maple syrup! I wish I had found them sooner, as my son lived in the... More
