We come to Connecticut twice a year for family visits. We always stay with Mary & Dave. The b&b is charming, the breakfasts outstanding and our hosts delightful. Dave even makes the maple syrup you have for breakfast from trees on the property. The restaurants nearby have really stepped up their game too which makes the stay even better. Very... More

Can't say enough about how comfortable our 3-night stay was. Mary and David are warm, knowledgeable hosts - and great cooks! The historic homestead has been lovingly maintained, with the right combination of original flavor and modern amenities. Can't wait to return!

From the very beginning, Mary and David made our trip such a pleasure! Making the reservation was easy-peasy and when it finally came to our actual stay, it just got better from there. The place was easy to find, in a great location (right near the ramps for I-84 going in either direction) and was comfy-cozy. The house site was... More

Very comfortable facility in historic B&B. Innkeepers are very friendly and interested in assuring your enjoyment during stay. We really appreciate their adjusting their breakfast recipes to meet food alergies.

We stayed at this home while attending a college graduation in a nearby town. The home is over 275 years old and has quite a history. The room was nicely appointed and one of only two available. The host and hostess could not have been nicer or more accommodating and the breakfasts were wonderful and made to order. A great... More

My wife and I stayed at this wonderful B&B last week, when we went on a short trip passing through New England. Both Dave and Mary the owners met us with open arms and were very gracious hosts even though we gave them very short notice and arrived late at night. Their home was very warm and inviting. The bed... More

This is a Colonial-period home, but it has lots of contemporary amenities, such as extremely comfortable beds. The Potters were excellent hosts, full of suggestions for our genealogical expedition, and they also made a delicious pancake breakfast --with maple syrup created from their own trees! My daughters and I had a wonderful time here, and we strongly recommend it.

This was our first time staying at a B&B and we were glad to have found Captain Josiah Coles Place. We stayed in the Captain's room which was very clean, spacious and nicely decorated. Additionally, the queen sized bed was super soft as we had no trouble falling asleep. Dave's chocolate cake was amazing and hit the spot after a... More

If you like soft and cozy, this is your stop. Rooms were large and clean. Beds were extremely soft, not your standard, I swear this was stuffed by hand. Soft drinks and water in the fridge downstairs, coffee maker set up for use at anytime. Breakfast was amazing. You start off with fresh, sweet fruit & yogurt was on ice... More

On the Captain Josiah Coles Place in Southington, CT My visits to Connecticut are especially enjoyable ever since I found the Captain Josiah Coles Place, a beautifully maintained 270+ year old B&B home in Plantsville, a part of Southington, CT. Dave and Mary Potter, the gracious proprietors, are welcoming and interesting conversationalists. I made two round trips from California in... More
