My daughter and I spent a night here while exploring the area. It is a beautiful, historic inn in a beautiful residential area of Norwalk called Silvermine. Our room was perfectly decorated and very clean. The innkeeper was very nice and served some outstanding honey buns as well as a variety of other delicious items for breakfast. Comfortable beds and... More

I’m so glad you and your daughter enjoyed The Silvermine Tavern. The experience you had is exactly the one I hope to provide. You and your daughter are actually the last guests to stay at The Tavern. After 85 years of hospitality and 59 years of ownership by my family the Inn has been sold. It will be completely renovated... More

We had a fantastic rehearsal dinner here in 2007. It had a great rustic charm and New England atmosphere. We started with cocktails on the deck followed by a seated dinner in the adjacent private room. If you are looking for rustic, New England country charm, you can find no warmer a hearth.

I wish all of the many brides and grooms who have had their wedding celebrations at the Tavern would return like you did for a more relaxed visit. We love to connect a few years later. More

I was hoping to find something that would say "welcome to the US" as this was going to be the first night after our flight from Rome, in a ten day holiday. It was much more than what I was hoping for. It was like landing straight into a Norman Rockwell painting. The building is lovely, the room was amazing,... More

Our stay at the Silvermine Tavern was like stepping back into American history. Our room in the main tavern building was cozy, comfortable, and pet friendly. The inn is filled with early American artifacts, and the dining room features elegant portraits of old patriots. Breakfast of fresh fruit and homemade granola was just right. The inn is located in a... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night. We were driving back to NYC after 2 weeks of travelling around New England. We called ahead and were greeted by Frank. We would arrive after closing time, but that was no problem at all, and Frank would leave keys and instructions outside. We arrived at a gorgeous inn, straight out... More

I'm delighted that you found Silvermine so charming. We're lucky to have authentic New England atmosphere and a "country setting", complete with the mill pond and ducks, just an hour from New York. More

My husband and I stayed for just one night at silvermine while in town for a nearby engagement party. We both wanted to stay for longer! The inn and the area are steeped in artistic history and tucked away in a gorgeous neighborhood. I highly recommend taking the short neighborhood walking tour that is provided in your information packet. The... More

MARCH 2013--- My wife and I stopped for a night on the way back to MA from NYC. The Inn is close to all the major routes but on the outskirts of town to give you a country feel. The inn keeper, Frank, was great on pre arrival instructions. We came in after hours and he had everything set up... More

The Silvermine Tavern is a true mixed bag. You want to love it, but you just can't. There are some wonderful things about it -- it's full of antiques, the innkeeper is very nice and knowledgeable, the surrounding neighborhood is charming, and attention is given to little touches -- excellent bath linens, a detailed self-guided walking tour of the town,... Thanks for taking the time to comment on your Silvermine stay. I’m glad you found so many nice things to say about the inn and Silvermine – we find it charming too. I’m sorry about the maintenance issues you highlighted. There is a never-ending to do list on a 200 year old building like ours. The list is particularly long... More

The Inn is located in a beautiful and historical neighborhood. Be sure to take the walking tour he outlines for you. The homemade granola and honey buns are a nice addition to the continental breakfast.

We spent several days at Silvermine Tavern for a family event. We’d been frequent visitors in the past, first at luscious Sunday brunches on the deck when we lived in Norwalk, and later, when we moved, as guests in the Tavern when the restaurant was still opened. We wondered how it would feel now that the restaurant is closed. First,... More
