What a charming, beautiful and friendly place to stay! And it comes at a reasonable price with breakfast. The large porch and shaded garden are a delightful amenity. You can take a morning walk at the nearby New Canaan Nature Center. The Visitor Center for the Philip Johnson Glass House is in the nearby village.

We stayed at the Roger Sherman Inn this past weekend for a two night stay in the 2 bedroom suite. The charm of this old inn is evident and in abundance from the minute you pull up in the car park. The suite was just perfect for us as a family and ensured that we also had our own space... More

Okay, I'll always be biased toward an older place with some promise of charm. But this place offers charm and fails in all the details. The website is an antique that defaults to a reservation for that day whenever you make a change. Why is that important? Only because you agree before making an online reservation that you have to... My wife and I just spent six nights in room 17 in the carriage house behind the main inn. The room was clean, temperature controls worked well, beds reasonably comfortable and very nice towels (highlight). With one exception the staff was cordial. However, at $230 a night, there was much left to be desired. Poor room lighting, old tube tv... More

I grew up in New Canaan and now live out of state. I always stop in town when I am traveling to or from my home. I started eating at the RS a few years ago and now stay here when ever I am in town. I agree with other reviewers that the Carriage house is quieter and a room... More

Who knew that on Friday and Saturday evenings, the Riger Sherman bar turns into an Americana speakeasy where Yankee CT meets South Jersey Rock ~ my friend and I were returning from a party and it was early around 9:30 pm or so looking to hear some music and get a drink - we found a few folks at the... The Inn is about the only place to stay in New Canaan and they have a no cancellation policy so even if you try to cancel well in advance of your stay you will be charged. We stayed there in July and paid $235 for an outdated room with a kind bed (actually two twins on a king platform) and... More

We stayed in the suite because we needed 3 rooms and this is basically the only hotel we know of in New Canaan. Their reservation says that the suite has two bedrooms and a living rooms with a pull out sofa but here is what it really has: One nice bedroom; a second 'bedroom' that is very small and has... This inn is in a beautiful part of Connecticut and a very upmarket town. The ambiance is great, but there were a few disappointments. Our room was dark and rather cramped. There was no coffee/tea making equipment in our room, and no ice bucket. You could get ice from the friendly registration staff. The bar/dining room was also rather dark.... More

Stayed here for two nights in June. Lovely area, lovely property, lovely building. Definitely felt more like an informal inn than an intimate bed and breakfast and also felt like a place that is more familiar to locals than it is welcoming to out of town guests. There is no main, parlor-type seating area--which surprised and annoyed me. There is... More
