It was the love of my life's 60th birthday and I wanted to plan something special. We have never been to Mystic so began to research some B&B's. The birthday boy never visited one but was very welcoming to the idea. Thankfully, I choose the perfect place, The House of 1833. We met Robert as we parked in the back... More

We just returned from beautiful Mystic CT and spent two nights at the House of 1833. We've been to many B&Bs and have never felt as welcome and as comfortable as we did here, mostly because of the charming hosts and the beautiful grounds! Evan, you are just wonderfully helpful and delightful and fun! Robert, your gardens are as beautiful... More

This was my wife's and my first experience at a bed & breakfast. We came to The House of 1833 for multiple occasions: our 1st Anniversary, my 30th birthday, and a little babymoon weekend 6 weeks before our first child's due date. After we arrived, Evan, one of the proprietors, gave us a brief introduction followed by a full tour... More

We have never felt more welcome at any hotel or B & B we stayed at. The hosts are Evan and Robert. Evan is a most gracious host and meets travelers upon arrival to offer a tour of the historic inn and many of the antique furnishings and paintings. Each has a history of its own. The house has been... More

We had the priviledge of staying at the House of 1833 in June. We'd researched a multitude of options and decided on Evan and Robert's House--so glad we did! The setting, the atmosphere, the comforts--all amazing. So many wonderful things to look at (and Evan and Robert have great stories). My husband, daughter, and I stayed in the Oak Room... More

You are greeted by the gracious host Evan, a mature gentleman who runs (and owns) the place with Robert. Several small dogs on the property will largely ignore you - they have their own business to attend to, presumably - but Evan will (time permitting) give you a tour of this Historic Landmark which, yes, does date back to 1833.... First and foremost, Evan and Robert you are the best inn keepers in the world. Your hospitality was extraordinary. The House of 1833 is beautifully decorated with antiques, many that are original to the house. A lot of history there. You begin your stay with a thorough tour of the house and grounds and finish up in your suite. We... More

The House of 1833 is a historical adventure. A 180 year old mansion, run by affable hosts Evan and Robert. Breakfasts were wonderful, history interesting, all rooms packed with antiques. If you are visiting Mystic Seaport, why not sleep in something from the same vintage?

This was our 4th stay at The House of 1833. EVERYTHING about the M&B was excellent, from the unique & delicious breakfast to the attentiveness of the hosts. Each year Evan and Robert seem to have done somehting to improve the house & grounds - each of them seem to have special talents that they share with the guests -... More

My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary at the House of 1833. Evan and Robert made us feel like royalty. If you love antiques and appreciate old treasures, this B&B will not disappoint. There is so much to look at and appreciate. I especially enjoyed the album about the history of the house. The breakfasts were delicious. We stayed... More
