We had a wonderful time at this outstanding lovely place. Rooms are large and beautifully designed, the owner very nice and considerate, they have a good breakfast and if you aks the owner she will tell you a lot of stuff where to go, to eat, what to see. We will definitely come back to Abel darling if we get... more

Was looking for a place to rest up before heading to a big night at Mohegan Sun. Litchfield is a quiet town, laid back and perfect for having a relaxed friday night meal with the significant other. If we hadn't been so wiped, we probably would have topped the night off with a movie. However, we were happy enough to... more

A recent two night stay was a major disappointment. The proprietress showed us our rooms, told us when breakfast was, then disappeared. No one was around to ask a good place to eat, where we could find glasses for our rooms or where we should park the cars. Restaurant menus and local brochures were extremely outdated. Breakfast was laid out... more

I am very sorry our guest from the Boston area were not happy at the B&B. The B&B is not my only job here in CT. I am a part time student and also a real estate agent. We run a open door policy, guests make themselves at home even when I cannot be here during the day or at...

This is a wonderful B&B experience. The host is terrific, the location is the best in town - all other places I thought of staying were out on the highway and would have meant driving in to the center of town. At Abel Darling you can walk everywhere. You have complete access to a beautiful 18th century home right on... more

My wife and i have been travelling in northern USA for a few weeks so we have stopped in B&Bs, inns and motels. We were a walk up and managed to get the last room. It was quite charming, nice bed, good decor and the place had a happy feel to it. The breakfast was superb and was a great... more

Colleen made us feel very welcome. Her home was full and she gave up one of her kids rooms for us. That's what I call hospitality! This is a really great little historical home, turned into an atmospheric bed & breakfast. A great location close to the green and the beautiful side streests of Litchfield. It's the only B& B... more

Litchfield Connecticut Abel Darling b&b "lovely" Date Sept 2007 Trip Advisor Member. Lovely traditional home and pleasant decor throughout, with many original features .Accommodation situated central to tourist attractions.Downside breakfast was much to be desired, very poor content and nothing like the description on the hotel website.Would however reccomend this place as clean and comfortable but breakfast would be better eaten out. more

We stayed at the Abel Darling B&B on a visit to White Flower Farm nursery this fall. We found the visit to be everything you would expect from a 1782 colonial home that sits across from the village green. Private parking is in front of the house. You can walk across the street for lunch, dinner, or shopping. We had... more
