We stopped at the Duke William for a family meal on Sunday. There was a choice of roast and 2 of us had the organic chicken and another the beef. All of them arrived floating in instant gravy so this is all we tasted rather then the chicken which was small pieces dotted in the gravy rather than slices. There... More

Probably not for the disabled due to steep stairs or to those who want to go to bed at 10 as this is a pub! The room was clean and comfortable, the full English breakfast was absolutely first class. The ingredients were all excellent local fare and cooked to perfection.

This was a three day family reunion with our French friends. We were welcomed and enjoyed the general ambience of the pub. The food was very good and the staff attentive throughout. The first impression outside was 'casual' and offputting. The front door was jamming but inside it was alright. The steep staircase was extremely difficult for the older person... More

Thank you very much for you feedback. As below we can't apologise enough for the lack of service to our bed and breakfast rooms while our usual room attendant was taking paternity leave. All staff are now aware of our room standards and I can assure you that this will certainly not happen again. I am very pleased you enjoyed... More

We've just returned from four nights at the Duke William. The food was excellent and the staff were really friendly. The Duke is in a beautiful village ideally placed for exploring Kent. Our room was clean when we arrived but unfortunately nothing was done to it for the four days we stayed. We had to request toilet paper, coffee, tea... More

I am very sorry to learn that your room was not freshened everyday. This is a standard procedure for us here at The Duke William and it is disappointing to hear that it was not carried out during your few days away. Unfortunately the member of staff who is usually in charge of the rooms was on paternity leave and... More

A lovely country pub in rural Kent not far from Canterbury. Stayed two nights. The room was reasonably priced with very good food in the restaurant downstairs. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay again if we are ever in that part of Kent; the village is delightful.

My partner & I have just returned from a 3 night break at The Duke William. We made the booking as a last minute get-away after a recent family bereavement & we just needed to get away to clear our heads & recover. We were so glad we chose to come here. Ickham is a tiny peaceful village. A walk... More

We stayed at The Duke William in Ickham for one night. Everything was superb: from the bottle of Puglian wine served in front of the open log fire, to the lovely dinner, to the clean and well-presented bedroom and the great freshly cooked breakfast the morning after. Atmosphere, great food and the idyllic countryside location close to the attractions of... More

My partner and I stayed one night for my birthday. We were welcomed as soon as we entered and shown straight to our room, which was very well presented and clean. The Landlords are so lovely! We didn't have to wait long to be served at the bar, and had a delicious breakfast the following morning. The pub felt very... More

Once again we stayed here, our 6th visit but we have to say this time was by far the best. With the relaxing open fire blazing away we could unwind reading the papers and having a drink after a lovely day in Canterbury and Sandwich. The new young landlords could not be more helpful or friendly they are working very... More
