The pub come restaurant come B&B ticks all the boxes. We went on a week night when it was light in numbers and hence the atmosphere fell short. It is a very big space, pleasantly decorated in neutral colours with a fire at the front and a "Cheers-Style" bar island in the middle. The décor was fine and pleasing to... More

11-02-15, my wife and I returned to the Duke William today for lunch, having not been there for quite some time, after being disappointed with the change from old style excellent menu to a Michelin style, which might suit some, but didn't suit the style of a country pub. We read the new reviews from happy customers, so decided to... More

Just had lunch here have known it for some time the actual owners have retaken over the business and their professionalism shows. Good atmosphere and food at a decent price live locally and will recommend to our guests and friends.

I took my wife, kids and our dog for lunch in this beautiful pub in a gorgeous Kentish village. We (including Lola the dog) couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Nothing too much trouble; a bowl of water for our dog was brought without asking, the kids made to feel special and the food, all bar one dish,... More

We went in Valentines day and I can say it was one of the best experiences I ever had, lovely food, nice environment near the fireplace, really cosy and warm. The room was clean and typical. So recommended!

My fiancé and I stayed at The Duke William when visiting family in Canterbury. The Sat Nav decided to take us the bumpy route - but that's another story. When we arrived we got a few funny looks from the locals, but that's to be expected. We went in and approached the bar. We spoke to one of the staff... More

We live in one of the nearest villages to Ickham and have visited this pub to eat lunch or dinner many times in the past 8 years. Its setting is spectacular, especially the garden in a summer evening. However the quality of food is in decline. The menu sounds exotic ( trying to be gastro-pub, and not succeeding?) but is... Booked in for one night with another couple. Told we couldn't lock our room as key 'was in Germany'. Our fellow travellers couldn't lock their room until shown the special 'lift the door' technique. There were gaps across the ceiling in our room at top of walls to bathroom where it looked as if the aged floor had sagged when... More
