Service was attentive; waitress accommodating and friendly. Buffet, not lavish, but replenished frequently with standard, basic fare such as salads, fish in cream sauce, meatloaf, fried chicken along with waffles/toppings and an omelet station. All was freshly prepared with some selections tastier than others. A real bonus was the Jazz music making the breakfast experience a real pleasure and enjoyable.... More

We thank you for joining us on Fathers' Day to enjoy our popular Sunday Hunt Breakfast. Our guests typically enjoy this tradition quite a bit: they love the wide variety of breakfast and lunch offerings - particularly the made-to-order omelet and Belgian waffle stations. And given the price, it is certainly a value! Guests also like the fact that we... More

It was a bit disappointing to find the Griswold Inn lacking in the charm we expect from such a "name" place. The staff were very friendly, if not too efficient, but the room was small and devoid of amenities and the charm did not make up for it. It was $169 for a Sunday night which should buy more. There... Staying at the historical Griswold Inn was a memorable event. Inn staff was friendly and efficient. Tavern was enjoyable and food was good. Certainly appointed with lots of interesting quality memorabilia. Being old and authentic can make for some challenges however. Some of the rooms are down a few doors so you do go outside from reception desk to get... More

We had read other reviews, so chose a room on the third floor of the inn--away from the pub. It was quiet and very comfortable. The lighting in the room was the biggest drawback--you could hardly read in the evening, and the bathroom was also very inadequate for lighting. If you can't negotiate steep narrow stairs, a room elsewhere in... More

On the way home from a recent trip to N.Y. , my friend and I stopped here, since it's a half way point for us, and we wanted to end our trip with an elegant dinner. It was early, so we were the only people in the Library where we were seated and thus had excellent service, wonderful food and,... More

Superb accommodations and hospitality! We stayed at the Gris five years ago, and will probably return in 2020. It's like stepping back in time, but with the conveniences of the present. We took a tour of the him after breakfast, and were treated to a showcase of artwork and furnishings that can't be matched. The Gris is an experience not... More

While driving back home from my project in Connecticut, we dropped into The Griswold Inn for lunch. Having heard a lot of good about the Inn we actually went a little out of our way for the visit, and it was worth every minute. A very beautiful, historic property, in an idealistic setting. We were seated promptly for lunch, a... More

We were too tired to really appreciate, but what a find. Antique room with amazing shower & comfy bed. My wife loved her beef but my chicken was a bit ordinary. Breakfast was nice. Good staff. Wonderful little village for a few hours. Will remember it for a long time.

On the recommendation of friends and trip advisor reviews, we decided to see for ourselves why this inn was so well liked. What a memorable and wonderful experience awaited us at the "Gris." We were warmly welcomed by the reception staff and given a lovely queen-bed room on the second floor of the Inn. Maybe it is because we have... More

My childhood friend and I had lunch here recently. We were seated at a cozy table in the gun room. Lots of historic charm here. We ordered sandwiches, which were served promptly. They were reasonable priced and very tasty. We were encouraged to look around at the different dining rooms after lunch. Each room was decorated with that great maritime,... More
