We have stayed in Vail many times and finally decided to try this hotel. It is in a great location, but a bit overpriced as the rooms and facilites are all in need of a refresh and/or update. The service was excellent as the staff were responsive and accommodating. That being said, a few things were amiss as we only... More

Visited the Sonnenalp with my wife and daughter over the 4th of July weekend. I have to say that I was a little hesitant to book it- we have been to the spa a couple of times and enjoyed it, but I did think it would be worth the price to stay. I was wrong! We booked a juniper room... More

My family drove up to Vail for the night to see a concert at the amphitheater. We stayed at the Sonnenalp and would return there in a heart beat. Our room had a lovely view. Even the cot they brought in for my son was comfortable—he didn't want to get out of bed. Room service and the breakfast brunch were... More

A Colorado resident, I was looking for just the right base from which to show my visiting (well-traveled) German aunt the area. There are a variety of hotel options in Vail, many of which are sleek and modern (such as the Four Seasons and Sebastian)and are typical of the current style of hotels being built in ski resorts at present.... We have been lucky to stay at many fine resorts over the years for business. While driving their my wife and I were discussing which resort we thought was the best we ever styed at. It was a choice of 2 or 3 from up state NY to the Rocky Mountains. After we left Sonnenalp we both agreed this was... More

Possibly the best hotel we've ever stayed in! The service was without equal, the room was beautiful and comfortable, and the amenities are exceptional. And you can't beat the location! Be sure to get a room facing the river, and DO NOT miss the brunch buffet- it's among the best I've ever had. Thanks for the great experience!

As others have pointed out, the Sonnenalp is very popular and somewhat exy. But character and exclusivity are in the eyes of the beholder so one rather suspects a seasoned skier well acquainted with the European Alps might not be as taken as a visitor from North America or the Antipodes. One gets a sense not dissimilar to seeing the... More

Once again, the Sonnenalp has exceeded my expectations! This beautiful creek side, family owned resort & spa provided the best in everything to make this combination of business, friends & family stay my best ever! Can't wait to come back again.

The Sonnenalp is a resort hotel that is really worthy of the glowing reviews it receives. One of a kind - large hotel that feels cozy; elegant yet down to earth; very European, yet here in the US. Our room had a wonderful bathroom, large and well appointed. Loved the heated floors. It also had a cozy nook in the... More

While the sonnenalp is expensive it met all expectations of a world class hotel, from cleanliness and room design/decor, to turn down and vallet service, everything was top notch. Also for arriving in a filthy car and being very young, the staff treated my girlfriend and I with respect and dignity as they would any other guest. Highly recommended, if... More
