But I'm not sure I'd want to go back. Big, spacious room, but so cluttered with furniture it was awkward. Comfy beds, but lighting was so poor, couldn't read. And it's a "full service" hotel, so they want to do everything for you. Can't even get your own ice; you have to call the desk. So, of course, you end... More

The Austrian theme of this hotel is truly enchanting as is the staff, who treat you like a regular. The rooms are meticulously cleaned and the turn-down service is to be rivaled; complete with cookies and fresh flowers. The pool and the grounds are lovely (the indoor sauna and pool have the feel of a spa). The Sonnenalp is conveniently... More

We returned once again to our favorite hotel in Colorado for our anniversary weekend. We arrived early, and of course they had our room ready. Check in took about 30 seconds. They also gave us a room upgrade without having to ask! Room was perfect! Clean and cozy and just right! We had lunch in Bully ranch. They were busy... More

This hotel is privately owned & it shows in every detail. From the owner being present & accessible to the friendly & accommodating staff, you feel welcomed & appreciated the moment you arrive. The nightly entertainment provided in the lounge is quite enjoyable after a day spent sightseeing or skiing. The breakfast buffet is a splurge, but well worth the... More

The Sonnenalp is a very quaint hotel in a great location with excellent service. The room was very spacious - we felt like we could stay for the month. There was a foyer, large sitting area attached to the bedroom with a fireplace, a large closet and a very large bathroom with heated floors. The spa area was very nice... More

Our family just spent 4 nights at the Sonnenalp, as part of a Spring break ski vacation. This hotel is very conveniently located a short walk through the village to Gondola 1, the major way up Vail mountain. The Sonnenalp has a ski valet service right next to the Gondola, so skis and boots are stored right there. The hotel... More

My husband had a work event held at the Sonnenalp...so we decided to check in a few days early to enjoy the village and ski. The Sonnenalp definitely has a European flare to it. The Junior suite that we stayed in was wonderful. Gas fireplace in the room, heated floors in the bathroom - the room itself well appointed. Everything... More

I stayed at the Sonnenalp during the President week break with my family. The Juniper room was spacious enough for 4, and the 2 double beds were really comfortable! The housekeeping and the turn down service were great. Toiletries were ok but nothing exceptional. The breakfast buffet was excellent: a big choice of pastries, fruits, deli, eggs, waffle, pain perdu.... More

Wow, what a location close to the slopes and in the middle of Vail Village. The rooms are clean and the staff is probably one of the best trained I've ever seen. Great spa, pool and Jacuzzi make this spot one of my favs in the rocky mountains!

The plus is the service and the quality. We stayed in room Nr. 308 which is unbeatable with mountain view, cheminee, balcony and the creek. The style of the hotel is very traditional european. Nothing is cool and trendy, there is no need for that. The hotel is in good shape. Family Fässler, director and owner is always around. Personal... More
