The Sonnenalp Vail garners high marks for its service, with guests often lauding the staff's attentiveness and personalized touch. Its warm, European-inspired ambiance and luxurious amenities, including a top-notch spa and ski concierge, further enhance the experience. Spacious, well-appointed rooms equipped with fireplaces and balconies are a hit among visitors, as is the hotel's cleanliness. With a prime location close to skiing and Vail Village, the Sonnenalp is celebrated for convenience. However, opinions on value vary, with some guests questioning the price point despite the upscale offerings.

This hotel has a fantastic family-owned feel. Everyone is friendly. The accommodations are nice and make me feel like I am in Germany. The location is fantastic, located in Vail village. The spa provides for an excellent experience and it's not crowded at all. The restaurant/bar has live music and makes you feel like you are sitting in someone's living room. Highly recommended.

Hotel's Favorite
The staff at the Sonnenalp was very cordial and the room (king with a balcony) was nice, clean and overlooked Vail Village, which offered great views. The room was clean and the staff left water, ice and cookies every afternoon. The one thing missing was a charging station for phones and I had to use the bathroom outlets and the outlet by the desk, which wasn’t as convenient at night. The alarm clock was plugged into an outlet turned on/off by a light switch and I finally figured it out by day two. :) Ludwig’s breakfast was delicious and lunch at Bully Ranch was good although service was slow due to understaffed conditions. I ordered room service one evening for dinner and the food was good although the side of fries weren’t as warm as I would have liked but the chicken was a good temperature. I recommend staying here given the great service and location.

Another great stay. This is a very well run hotel, top to bottom. We had an error in our reservation upon checking in…. The hotel handled the matter with customer service in mind; though, we had to escalate to a manager, as the front desk employee was nice but unable to remedy. The hotel is meticulously clean. All dining venues are fantastic, truly. Our room was comfortable and quiet. We look forward to returning. We’ve stayed here a several times.

The Sonnenalp Vail is one of our favorite hotels in the world. We've been visiting for well over a decade, and it never fails to surpass expectations. A true home away from home. Yes, the property is gorgeous & conveniently located in Vail Village, but the staff is the nicest & most attentive you will find. They make the experience!

This was a wonderful experience. Fantastic staff and facilities. By far nicest property I have experienced at Vail. Family run with pride. The spa is fantastic. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel has a traditional European feel. No detail is not addressed. The staff is uniformly friendly and helpful and the professionalism is spectacular Wish I had signed up for the buffet breakfasts ahead of time as they are pricey alone

We look forward to coming to our stay at the Sonnenalp and it's always feels like coming home! From the beautifully appointed rooms, spacious closet, European bedding, wonderful staff and of course the breakfast buffet....top notch. Our ski equipment is impeccably taken care of and from the ski concierge it's a few steps to the gondola. On our return, the equipment is stored, we have hot towels and fresh cookies!

Outstanding hotel right in the heart of Vail Village. Delicious buffet breakfast, nice rooms with an old European lodge fell, accommodating staff, terrific gym/spa area. About a 7 minute walk to Gondola 1 but they offer terrific concierge service where you can leave your skis/boots after skiing.

A very special hotel. Staff is amazing. Our 1 bedroom suite had plenty of room for our 2 kids to sleep in the living room (one on murphy bed and one on a cot). Breakfast is sp good too. We loved how people of all ages gather in the common room in the evening and there is always live music and people drinking and dancing. Feels timeless.

Extremely frustrating experience—we were billed twice for the breakfast. We paid using a credit card during the breakfast, then they rebilled us at checkout. We disputed this and the manager assured us the charge would be removed but it was not. Now we are stuck paying for the same breakfast twice. We have tried calling to no avail. We will be staying at the Sebastian or four seasons instead in the future.

excellent experience with the staff and enjoyed the breakfast buffet! As for the room, it sounds like the bi-level loft suite might not have been the most convenient choice with little kids. If you plan to stay there again, you might want to consider requesting a room with a WC on the same level as the sleeping area to make things easier for you and your kids at night.
