The Chateau is an older hotel with no frills. You do get what you pay for, exspecially in Vail. The location is brilliant and the staff is helpful and will go above and beyond to help you. People don't expect the Ritz, it's for the ecconomic minded people. more

My wife said we'd stayed in worse places but not in quite a while. It has a great location and a beautiful piece of Vail under and around it. The wrecking ball isn't there yet but will be soon--a $100 million Four Seasons Resort is rumored to be in the works. The staff tries hard with the limited resources available... more

This is a hotel that was a 3 star and is functioning as a 2 star to keep costs low. It's fairly clean and maintained and staff are friendly. But there are no extras. We had to ask for the coffee machine that's suppose to be in every room (and they found one for us). The hot tub didn't work,... more

The Chateau Vail is no longer affiliated with Holiday Inn, and as you might expect for a hotel that is too dumpy to be a Holiday Inn, it is quite run-down. During my stay, the phones did not always work, and the staff said that the phones fail "whenever it snows". Also, agressive, non-English speaking hourskeeping staf have no problem... more
