This place is WAY overpriced!! It is dingy, outdated, and cramped. The beds are hard, the pillows are lumpy, the towels are scratchy, and the walls are thin - we could hear people in other rooms coughing a sneezing! I expected much more for the money.

We definately liked the location! It is located right on the slopes at the base of the mountian near the lifts. Great location. It was clean, the employees were friendly, the restaurant had great food and a happy hour. They also have a ski shop in the hotel and will store your ski's. A restaurant in the hotel is very... We booked a room at the Ptarmigan Inn for one night on our way to our vacation destination. The next day we realized we left a very important personal item in the room, my wifes car keys. We called the front desk and was assured the item would be mailed to us. Upon returning home to Denver a week later,... More

super experience from the start, res staff was excellant and took the time to describe property, ammenities, and location. upon arrival we weren't let down as the check-in process was also warm, friendly, welcoming and informative. hotel is certainly an older property, but the location was absolutely amazing. we know ski-in/ski-out has become a popular term with questionable interpretation, however,... My sister & I wanted to getaway from Denver for labor day weekend, got a reasonable rate last minute for the Best Western Ptarmigan. When we arrived around 8pm, we checked into our room which was hard to navigate through the hallways, I got lost once. When we arrived at our room, we double check all the sheets before settling... We take input and guest comments very seriously here at The Ptarmigan Inn. Unfortunately this is a false accusation. The hotel has a commercial pest control program with a nationally recognized service provider. Monthly inspections and abatement procedures are performed by trained professionals. The hotel has never in it's 30+ year history had an incident of bedbugs. The comfort and... More

We booked this hotel from the Steamboat Springs Reservation Group and feel this property is completely overated and overpriced. Yeah, maybe it was stylish in the 70's, but when was the last time you saw salmon colored formica in a bathroom? The beds were hard and the pillows were crushed. Our "slopeside" room, #220, was in the basement, with a... More

THE PORCHES have bought this little hotel and maybe after the 2007/8 season it will be leveled to make way for MORE CONDOS to add to the every spreading sprawl of condos at this once quaint western countryside that has totally lost it's western country appeal! Sadly, it is just a massive sprawl of million dollar condos on top of... More

Be aware of getting "stuck in the middle": We made reservations through the "TripAdvisor" web site, through links to Expedia and in turn Best Western -- but somehow the fact that some of our party were children got lost (children under 18 are supposed to stay free at Ptarmigan Inn, according to their web site). Expedia refuses to deal with... More

The front desk staff was very nice. The price was right, but the hotel is older and not really that great. The floor had that matted down look and the carpet in our room needed a good vacuuming. The sock found under the edge of the bed was less than appealing as well. The bathroom had some hair on the... More

We stayed one night here, mid-September - this is 'between season' in Steamboat, reflected in the room rate of around $60. We are experienced travellers, but had a bit of trouble finding it! This, it transpired, is due to a city-enforced absence of road signage, which we think is fine. (I see no other reviewers note this problem, so it... More
