This is a great location for the $$. Convenient access to all the lifts. Nice little swimming pool and hot tub. Solid service from the Front Desk too. Driveway is a bit hidden and the parking is limited.

This really is a throwback ski hotel. It's sooo convenient to the snow, I can't complain. The hotel's age is more worthy of a laugh than a critical review. If you're looking for a romantic spot to stay in Steamboat, this is... not it. If you're looking for an inexpensive and convenient place to maximize ski time, Ptarmigan Inn is... More

Over the past two decades, I've been on a Steamboat Springs ski trip about every four years. Every time but one, I've stayed at the Ptarmigan Inn. It's biggest draw is the fact that it's truly ski-in and ski-out. Once you step out of the hotel, you walk about 20 feet, put on your skis and ski right down to... More

So well positioned but so old and tired, and waiting to be closed when economic conditions Favour a redevelopment. Tiny rooms with ancient furniture. Watch out for the trap on the website which advertises remodeled rooms. She we checked in it was clear no remodeling has been done and to their credit they refunded us the higher rate we'd paid... My family stayed here for a weekend ski trip. If your reason for staying at the hotel is proximity to the slopes and base, then you won't be disappointed. We never had to drive our vehicle until we left Steamboat, we had all amenities at the hotel or other restaurants and shops near the at the ski village. The lobby... More

My family and I stayed here over a weekend. We booked a standard room with 2 queens. Our room was on the fourth floor and gave a nice view of one of the KVC Magic carpets. It is very dated. The beds, and decor look like they've been around. The food in the restaurant was ok, far from anything we... More

The location is the best part of this hotel. The decor is old and in need of remodeling. The room size was adequate but the bath is very small. The lobby is nice as well as the hotel bar. All the carpeting is in need of replacement. Getting luggage in and out because of the stairs.

A friend and I visited Steamboat (from Denver) in October for the season change. The hotel is a average/ affordable hotel. Everything is fairly outdated, but if all you're seeking is a place to sleep and a store your stuff, this should do. The location is ideal if you're into skiing and snowboarding. Skip the nearby expensive restaurants ect., right... More

The Ptarmigan Inn was actually a second choice for a September business meeting, but I'm glad I wound up there! The decor is a bit dated but that's easily off-set by the very friendly staff and off-season value price (less than a hundred bucks). The room was equipped with a fridge, coffee maker and conveniences that you would expect. Quiet,... More
