Beautiful old house, comfortable rooms, and wonderful service! The manager found out it was our Anniversary and brought us complimentary treats to our room, he made us caramel french toast for breakfast and we felt welcome and at home.

We recently stayed at the Alma House Inn and had originally booked one bedroom that sleeps four. The new manager called prior to our arrival and asked if we could help them out - he would give us a good rate on two rooms, it would be a bit more but not much, the other people booking had messed up,... We informed the son and daughter of the owner of the Alma house about my daughters fall near their hot tub due to little or no lighting and loose rocks sticking up 2 inches on the walkway. They had little concern except to say, "I hope she's O.K." They were no help as to questions of a doctor or EMT's.... More

We booked Alma House because dogs were accepted. We were given a large room on the bottom floor next to the entrance, with made it nice for going in and out with dogs. This is a historic place, complete with footed tub and small wash area. But it was beautifully arranged, and we appreciated that for about a minute before... More

Our first visit to the Inn of the Rockies at the Historic Alma House. A very charming, well maintained property. Our room was well appointed and very comfortable. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her homemade waffles! Overall, very nice stay in Silverton!

Alma house made you feel like you stepped back in history once you stepped in the door of the inn. The owner's son, Michael, was an excellent host, chef, local historian and 4x4 trail expert. As a diabetic, we really appreciated how flexible he was in creating a safe yet amazing breakfast.

The inn is very easy to find, just one block off the main street (Silverton is a very small town so I guess almost everything is easy to find). At first, nobody was there, not even a notice. But after a couple of minutes the innkeepers welcomed us to their inn. The keepers were pretty new in town, because the... More

Tired of the Quality Inn, Ramada, Quality Inn, Budget Inn, Holiday Inn Express and a dozen others, The Historic Alma House allows you to truly enjoy what lodging was once was, The wonderfully gracious owner left my keys on the desk (plus cookies), allowing me to access the room hours earlier than standard check in time enabling me to nap... We stayed one night after hiking on the Continental Divide trail. Our hosts were very gracious to a couple of bedraggled hikers arriving unannounced, without reservations, on the afternoon of Labor day. All that was available was the 3rd floor suite, which was very spacious and comfortable. The location is just two blocks off the main drag, so after a... More

I am hiking the Colorado Trail from Denver to Durango. I am British and was amazed by the hospitality shown to me by Doolie and Magen at Alma House. I have rarely experienced this high level of hospitality and eagerness to please. From the moment I arrived, I was made to fell extremely welcome and, believe me having hiked over... More
