This hotel is great in many ways, location, restaurant, price, and owners are fantastic, as is the San Juan jeep tour company ( not the posers next door). However, if you stay here, I'll warn you about what the other reviews have, creaky floors, dirty carpets, paint chipping off the ceiling and walls, no amenities in room (only one outlet... More

My Husband, Father-in-Law and I had planned on camping but immediately decided to stay the night after seeing how stunning Ouray was. Since we were on a budget we priced all accommodations in town and were warmly welcomed at the Historic Western Hotel and were offered negotiable price for the most beautiful room beating the price of ALL the hotels... My husband and I stopped into the Historic Western Hotel in Ouray, Colorado because we needed a break from camping. We were attracted to the building's funky "oldness" and were thrilled by the exterior and interior. The proprietress gave us a great rate, even though we didn't have a reservation. We saw several of the rooms and were charmed by... More

My adult sons and I stayed at the HWH and had a great time. We booked two rooms, one double and one with two twins. The boys had a relatively sleepless night, having felt eyes watching them all night! I didn't have the same experience, but slept well despite the creaking floors and snores that filtered through the wooden doors... More

Our room was big, comfortable and nicely furnished with pretty antiques, and we had an excellent meal on the pleasant outdoor patio. However, from a place called "Historic Western Hotel" one would expect not only old fashioned Wild West furnishings & a good dinner but a hearty breakfast as well. To our chagrin, when we went down at 8.30 not... More

My husband and I and my two sons and one daughter-in-law vacationed in Ouray, CO last week of July 2009. We did not stay at the Historic Western Hotel but we did get a tour and ate at the restaraunt. The hotel is wonderful in it's rich stories of the past told by "Gregg" the very nice hotel owner. I... More

we went to this hotel sight unseen as a friend had booked it for us. all we knew was that is was historic and kind of primitive. we are always up for a good adventure, but were not prepared for the wonderful time coming our way! as this is the "off" season for this community, we were lucky to get... We did not had possibility to stay in this old, charming Wild-West hotel but I had an indept look into the rooms, bathrooms and restaurant. If you like the experience of an old charming Wild-West hotel you should give it a try. The owner asked 45 $ for a double room with shared bathroom which is a reasonable price for... More

My family and I were very excited to stay in this historic little hotel. I booked the rooms by calling the front desk directly and had no problems. The hotel is in a great location on a side street, right off the main street. When we checked in, it was pretty much like we expected; old, creaky, no elevator, small,... More

Take a step back into the 19th Century! As you walk through the front door you’re greeted by Colorado history at its best. You will enjoy hand painted wallpaper, original tin ceilings and tales of the old west. The Inn Keeper, Greg, will wow you with historical fact of gun fights, silver mines and gold gold-rushing. Not only is this... More
