We stayed at the Historic Western Hotel to stay at a cheap place in downtown Ouray. True to their description, it was cheap and the room was just a bed. That was fine because we knew that we weren't going to spend much time in the hotel. We booked the hotel 5 months ago because I am the type of... More

My son and I were on a Harley Davidson trip from LA to New York, (We flew from England) and we found Ouray the fourth night in. We parked our Harleys right outside, and were immediately welcomed by the owners. We booked a meal for later - I ordered a locally caught fish - and were shown to our rooms.... More

The idea of this hotel is that the rooms and services are as close as possible to how things would have been when the place was first built in the 1800s. It's a great idea and works really well! We had room 1 with two beds and a private bath. It's an extremely beautiful room with antique furnishings and hand... More

We love this quaint display of the 1800's. Most of the hotel remains as it was back then. Old west photos and stories abound. The creaky floors and antique furniture in every room , every corner, echo back to a time long gone. Its for the sentimentalist. The historian. The unpretentious, the culturalist. Greg is an amazing host/owner. The stories... More

Ok well I am easy to please, and was just looking for a clean safe place to stay and cheap. Well it is cheap, but man it is way more 'rustic' than I thought it would be. The room was super small and very old, which is ok, and the usual paint coming off the walls and the lone light... More

There is loads of history and character here, and a nice change from "cookie cutter" motels. We stayed in an old style room with high ceiling and lace curtains, with a shared bathroom down the hall. A little worn and not to everyone's taste, but very cheap to stay and it met all of our needs.

This hotel is rich in history. We had a drink in the bar. They also have a nice outdoor bar we could have used, but it had rained. Drinks are a bit pricey, but the view is nice and right off the Main Street. They have alot of different beers if you're interested in that. This is the oldest wooden... More

I have stayed here several times over the past few years. The first time was so awesome that it made the vacation, but that was ten years ago. Last night we paid $56 on.a Monday, had to walk room to room to find a.clean one...when we finally got a room, we settled in and then heard fighting in the hall.... More

We spent 3 nights & totally enjoyed the authenticity of this hotel! Slanted floors, clawfoot tub, creaky floor...Great! Comfy bed, GREAT staff! During the same trip, we stayed at 3 other historic hotels, which all had been variously refurbished. This was the real deal & with stories and photos to boot. Also enjoyed a jeep tour with this proprietor. This... More
