My wife and I were coast walking in winter and as there is no ferry across the Helford we were forced to walk up to Gweek. The reward was the Black Swan. Comfortable, clean and modern in its level of service and facilities, we had a very pleasant stay. Good food and very welcoming staff. An excellent pre ptepared breakfast... More

The Black Swan is a magic place! It's a small hotel but the rooms are high standard, very nice, clean and equipped. As the only pub in the small village of Gweek, you can feel the atmosphere is familiar, the staff is welcoming, kind and friendly, Alec will always be helpful and will always make you feel home. Oh, and... More

Stopped by for lunch with all the family after a very cold walk. We received a warm, friendly welcome from the bar staff who rapidly brought the drinks to the table next to a wood burner that soon warmed us up. The food was all freshly cooked and well presented. The prawn cocktails had fresh crunchy lettuce, a stack of... More

I had an excellent birthday lunch at the Black Swan! The beer was very good, the food fantastic and the staff were very welcoming. The pub is in a super location and it was extremely cosy on bleak winter day. I will definitely be heading back.

We live in the lizard and someone had told us how good the Sunday roast was so we went down one Sunday to take a look!! It was the best roast dinner we have ever had! The meat was perfectly cooked (beef) and the veg was amazing along with the roast potatoes and gravy!! We have been back twice since!!... More

We stopped here before going to the Seal Sanctuary(which is fab). We were very pleased we did, the menu is lovely, the food is freshly cooked and delicious especially the scallops which were on the specials board when we went. The staff were friendly and helpful, the pub itself is a nice setting too. The only issue for us was... More

Excellent village pub, with one of the best B&B rooms I've stayed in - would put many a hotel to shame. Have to say a word about the shower too - normally B&B showers are pokey little plastic affiars, but this one was huge and you didn't have to move around to get wet! Great pub style food, good beer... More

We have been going here 2 or 3 times a year for over 20 years and seen it change hands at least 2 times. It is an improvement on previous owners having changed its name from the Gweek Inn to the Black Swan and reducing clutter around the bar has made the bar area seem much more open. We do... More

Popped in for Sunday lunch, made to feel very welcome. Cheese and nibbles on the bar which I haven't seen in a pub in a very long time, the landlord was even in a shirt and tie (which is normal apparently). 5 roasties, 3 decent sized slices of meat, home made yorkshire, 4 fresh veg and gravy that actually tasted... We stayed for 4 nights and had an excellent experience across all aspects of the service. This is a village pub with 4 modernised and well appointed B&B en-suite rooms, it is not a 4 star hotel. However, everyone was very friendly, the rooms were good and were serviced well each day. The food and beer was good, with the... More
