5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013 NEW

I recently visited Black Canyon of the Gunnison and needed a motel for 2 nights. I picked Country Lodge for its visual appeal but was very pleased with all aspects of the property. Everyone was so friendly (even the owner's dog!) and helpful with ideas and directions. The rooms were decorated in a country style, very clean, quiet, first class... More

The Country Lodge does not pretend to be anything other than a western motel. The rooms are large and comfortable and individually decorated in different western themes. Legend has it that John Wayne stayed here during the filming of True Grit.

When I made the reservation, I pictured a cute little rustic charming mom & pop type motel at the foot hills of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Upon arrival we did find a mom & pop type motel; however, it is on the fringe of a commercial area with nearly every chain imaginable. I reserved the John... More

Been staying here occasionally over the years. Always nice helpful friendly service here. Very pet friendly. Rooms large and very well decorated. Like home. Railroad pictures. Rooms feel like home. Everything is spotless. Nice pool and hot tub. This place is fantastic. What great lodging is all about. I wish more motels could be like this. Thank you to fhe... More

We stayed here on a family vacation. I love the friendly staff and owners. Like old friends the first time we talked. They even looked up the road conditions for us and suggested a safer route. If you don't stay here you are missing out! Super clean and comfy, brings back childhood memories. We need more places like this and... More

We usually stay there the night after a Black Canyon hike and camping trip to relax and enjoy the hot tub. There are themed rooms that are very comfortable and unique. The owners are very hospitable, just dont get into a political rant with the husband!

My wife and I stayed for two nights in this modest 1950's motel which has managed to keep the character and charm of the era (Congrats to the owners!). If this is the experience you are looking for, I suspect it would be hard to find a better place to stay in town for the price. Our room was clean... More

We picked this place just because we liked the look. The room was large and very clean. The guy at the front desk was friendly and made us feel welcome. We had the John Waye room so we were also offered a box of John Wayne DVDs to watch during our stay. Inexpensive but a nice clean place to stay.

This was the best place that we stayed in our tour around Colorado, Utah and New Mexico. The welcome from Jennifer was warm and friendly, and the large rooms full of character. I'll not repeat all the accolades from the numerous other reviews, but one example of the hospitality stood out - our washing was piling up after 10 days... More

This is such a great place to stay. The outside is beautiful and then you look at the rooms and they are amazing!! So much bigger than expected with a great refrigerator and microwave. The bed and pillows were great and it was just very comfy. We enjoyed our hosts, Jennifer and Jeff. They are great people!! Extremely dog friendly... More
