We had a great time visiting with Sharon, the owner. The rooms need updating. Bed was soft and room needed better ventilation. Highway noise is noticeable until about 11:00 pm. With that said, Sharon makes the stay worth while.

Innkeeper Sharon treated us to probably the best B&B food we have ever had, including a Scandinavian pancake one morning and heavenly bread pudding and local sausage the other. Her very homey ranch is a great location for a hiking weekend, set between The Old Spanish Trail to the west and the Great Sand Dunes to the east.

Rooms look nicer in the pictures than in reality, but there was a nice view, very comfortable bed (with nice linens) touches like alarm clock and extra mirror. Everything was clean and the host Sharon served a delicious breakfast, and included lovely touches like water pitcher with lemon in the room, turned-down bed with chocolates on our return from dinner. Thought it was a bit overpriced, but would recommend.

We planned a trip to Southern Colorado to ride the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad and looked for a nice B&B in the area. Found the Windmill B&B just west of Monte Vista, forty minutes from the train, and booked two nights based on the very positive reviews found on Tripadvisor. The Windmill is four miles west of Monte Vista, not east which is what comes up on Google maps. This is one of the best B&Bs we've ever stayed in. Sharon is the owner and goes above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable and welcome. She cooks an incredible breakfast and is very knowledgable about local history. We have a new friend in southern Colorado and will be back to stay at the Windmill Bed and Breakfast.

It took a bit of doing to find the Windmill, but, Oh, the prize we found. We were welcomed with a vast array of refreshments and warm conversation. We were lucky enough to be the only guests and had Sharon all to ourselves, so visited both before and after going for dinner, and then again at breakfast--with an absolutely stunning Danish pancake as the centerpiece. We found we had much in common, and when leaving it felt as though we were leaving the home of our favorite relative. What a blessing to find this location, these accommodations, and this beautiful lady.

We had the good fortune to spend a night at Sharon Kay's Windmill Bed and Breakfast and are so glad we did. Amenities usually found in far more well known spots, a comfortable room, a hearty, inventive breakfast and best of all, a charming and knowledgeable hostess -what else could travelers want?

Their are many things to see in southeast Colorado and the Windmill B&B would be a good home base for anyone. Your host Sharon Kay is a wonderful lady and very knowledgeable on the area. She has good idea's and is a joy to be around! The Great Sand Dunes N.P. is the biggest attraction but their are many other things to do. Sharon will provide you with a great breakfast before you go exploring. When you get back she loves to hear about your day. Highly recommended!

While this small B&B is a bit out of town, and on first impression looks modest, the rooms were very comfortable, and owner Sharon Kay goes out of her way to make guests feel welcome. So many nice touches--fresh pitcher of water in the room, free WiFi, a variety of homemade snacks and beverages always available, plenty of good Colorado fresh air, and quaint themed decor. Four of us were the only guests for two nights, and Sharon had menus of nearby restaurants, personal leads on things to do (we were there to ride the Cumbres & Toltec scenic railroad--great experience), and genuine hospitality. We enjoyed using the living room and especially the fabulous, unusual homemade breakfasts. She went well above expectations to provide a most pleasant experience.

We have stayed here several times when visiting relatives in the San Luis Valley. We love it! The rooms are individally themed and the beds are super comfy. Each room has its own bath and a great view of the San Juans or Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The innkeeper, Sharon, is very accomodating to your needs and serves a tremedous breakfast. Each time has been something different and so tasty! She treats my son just like a grandchild, he thinks he the king of the world when we stay there. It's a great place to hub from, we can go to Creed, Great Sand Dunes National Park, the gator farm, bird refuge, etc with our family and still be back for an afternoon in the great hot tub. Its a little out town so it's very quiet and peaceful. The fenced yard and gardens provide a safe place for the children to play and explore without strict parental supervision. Everyone gets to relax! This little jewel of an inn always exceeds our expectations from arrival to departure.
