Estes Park, Monday in July. No festival, no event. Stunning setting, of course. Streets like parking lots. Parking lots to trails overfilled; shuttle bus service to trail heads. Arrived to lodgings booked months in advance. .......Musty. Smelly. Disappointing. Now, 5 hours we search, and view equally worn and unkept rooms found on the computer. Grand Lake beseiged by beetles, no longer picturesque, with miles of road repair on Trail Ridge before, is also booked.

Hmmmmm.....Loveland is nearby....a previous tripadvisor enjoyed it. And thus, we were led to a HIGHLIGHT of our 10 day Colorado journey......The Wild Lane Bed and Breakfast. Yes, Stephen told us, we do have a room. Come on over, you will enjoy the canyon drive.

From Estes Park, we travel the amazing Big Thompson Canyon. Just as we leave the canyon, we turn off as directed for about 2 miles to the entryway. It is impressive. Up the tree sentried lane, around the bend, by the the flower laden picnic meadow...

I have stayed at this B&B on two occasions. It is beautiful and the food is wonderful. Though I've stayed in other B&B locations in Loveland, this is the finest.

The breakfast was noteworthy, without being too exotic. It is served in a quiet covered porch. When I stayed only one other couple was at the Inn, and we ate at different times. I felt I had the place to myself.

The grounds are well-groomed. The view of the Devil's Backbone makes this a memorable stay. A morning hike is strongly recommended.

Beware of snakes. We found two small ones on the path--both coming and going! They are harmless garden snakes, but my heart was pumping.

Rooms are furnished with clean antiques. No rusty old desks or worn upholstery. Read the journal from other travelers while gazing down over the valley. Enjoy the amazing bathtub!
