We had been to Leadville for about 12 years to Ski and always wanted to stay in the Delaware but didn't. I'm glad we finally got to. Historic, updated within reason , just a cool old place. No issues with the steps but people above 60 would want to stay on the second level due to thin air at 10,200'... More

Stayed here with the family leading up to new years. The hotel is vintage. Old world charm. Lots of antiques and classic victorian pictures. Heads of big horn sheep, bison & moose on walls. Overall quiet and relaxing. Rooms feel large due to high ceilings. Located on the main street making it easy to walk to restaurants, shops and museum.... More

My family stayed during the "Christmas holidays and left on Christmas eve. 1. The bed was hard as a rock. Evidently, these beds are original to the hotel. 2. The walls were as thin as paper, we did not sleep for two days. We heard everything from people on the street to the next door neighbor. 3. Our room was... More

We were driving through Leadville on the way to Aspen in late summer/early fall. We were a little late to realize that the drive to Aspen from Leadville was too dangerous to maneuver at dark. So our last minute quest to find a decent overnight stay in Leadville landed us at The Delaware Hotel. The facade of the hotel is... More

Have low expectations and it's fine. No elevator so dragging your suitcases up the steps is a challenge at that altitude. Have no expectations for an edible breakfast and you will be fine. Rooms were large but the showers were terrible. Water went from freezing to scalding. Leadville is an interesting place. Go for the fun of it.

I had heard about this boutique/hotel several years ago and done business with them over the phone securing a matching lamp to one my sister in law had been gifted with to complete her set here in IA. The lady was so very helpful I said if I ever got to CO I would check this place out! I was... More

My wife and I stayed at the Delaware in August. We stayed in Doc Holliday's room on the 3rd floor. Many people told that the room is haunted and you can see his ghost. Well, I never did and even made fun of the story. Well my wife had a cough and started spitting up blood, just like Doc and... More

First, I'll say that I'm biased as I lived at the Delaware for 3 months in 1978 while working in the mine northeast of town. It was $35 a week then. Its now a lot cuter with the antiques and more livable with 21st century amenities - wifi, breakfast, a bathroom - and a pot shop across the street. But... More

Beautiful Historic Hotel in-town Leadville. It used to be a former silver mining town and the Mineral Belt Trail is nearby. Some historic buildings still stand such as The Tabor Opera House and The Silver Dollar Saloon. The hotel offers a continental breakfast, but we loved the City on the Hill Coffee Shop. Doc's Tavern was a great place for... More

The Delaware is a nifty, funky old hotel. Expect to haul your luggage up one or two steep flights of stairs (at 10K feet, flatlanders prepare!). Rooms are old style, lobby is interesting. I'd love to tell you it's a nifty place to stay. But, don't reserve in advance! The owner is completely inflexible, and if you have to leave... More
