Clean and comfortable. The floor in the bed area was oddly un-even it was like a mound slopping on all sides?!?!? They were very quick to fix a window that didn't have a blind. Asked about fixing it as we went to dinner and when we got back it was fixed! I would stay here again.

Our cabin was in a great location, close to the beach and Grand St (separate from the main cabins). It was very cute, and plenty large enough for 4 people. But, it was a little neglected. We arrived to a gas leak from the stove, which we were told to fix ourselves when we called for help. One of the... More

Was told room would have a twin bedroom as well as queen-twin bedroom turned out to be a pullout couch bed in the living room. There was a live wasp closed in the kitchen window making it impossible for us to open and enjoy a mountain breeze. In the evening, I asked an employee about turning on the gas fire... More

Was very nice except for the shower. NOT at all what the condition of the rest of the cabin was in. A small thing can be a huge impact on recommendations for Daven Haven. I didn't get a chance to eat at the Restaurant that was Highly recommended by the town folks as nobody told us it would be closed... More

We had a great time in Grand Lake! (17 people in the 4 Wildwood cabins) We were glad we had 4 cabins next to each other so that we could use all the kitchens when cooking and prepping meals (they are small kitchens). We went hiking, horseback-riding, boating, and shopping. It was great for the teens and 20-somethings to be... More

Cabin was adequate. Had the essentials, nothing extra. Purchased as a Living Social deal which listed names of cabins. When I tried to reserve a specific cabin I was told it wasn't available - at that Living Social was at fault somehow. Once there it appears that they build and sell the cabins so the ones pictured on their website... More

These cabins are small but quite comfortable. We were greeted warmly at the front desk when we checked in and were told about many activities in town that we could do. They are doing renovations around the property and there is quite a bit of trash and debris around. When this is cleaned up, I think it will improve the... More

My husband and I went for a getaway and were very happy with the cottage we stayed in. It was the perfect size for us, quaint and cozy. The property itself was nice, and we even saw a moose walk right through! Even though we went in off season and didn't have much contact with the staff, they were very... More

The Daven Haven Cabins are well kept, spacious, and clean. You get a sense of community staying there from the folks in the neighboring cabins to the congenial atmosphere at the steak house. The staff were friendly and the bartender bent over backwards to take care of us when the restaurant wait staff became overwhelmed with customers coming to see... More

The cabin's interior was nice and appreciated, and getting to see moose lumbering through the property was fantastic. However, the cabins are very close together in a cleared space, so it was not the experience we'd hoped for. It was near the lake, but there was no view of the lake. It was near town but a rather long walk.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A part of Grand Lake since the 1930's Daven Haven Lodge has only had 3 long-term owners since its conception, beginning with Lester and Cornelia Piper and Mrs. Pipers mother Mrs. Davis. The main road to Grand Lake was the street in front of the present main lodge, originally made up of a gas station and several small tourist cabins. The original tourist cabins still remain on the back of the property and are used as employee housing. The Pipers and Mrs. Davis owned and operated Daven Haven until 1968 when they sold to Tom and Betty Sowell who continued to build up their clientele and great reputation into the 80's when they sold Daven Haven and ended up with it back shortly there after. Leasing the lodge proved not to be a good idea and with new ventures on the horizon Tom and Betty bid farewell. The lodge remained closed for a few years and in 1990 reopened with its present owners Greg & Carey Barnes, their sons Dustin & Patrick and their dog Buddie. Now in their 25th season, the Daven Haven atmosphere is still a comforting place to come back to time and time again. With several familiar faces welcoming back our long time guests and greeting our new ones. ... more   less
