I am positive the " Musty Smell" reviewers were NOT actually at this establishment. I normally do not write reviews, but these people could not be further from the truth and I wish there was some type of accountability to trolls on the internet, and I must dispute this review. I am a construction professional and have stayed in several... More

Warning do not stay here! The room on one side had several guys carrying in cases of beer and hunting rifles; the room on the other side of us had a several dogs. The room was tiny with an old tube TV and the carpet felt sticky. There was a “very strong” aroma of disinfectant that didn’t work well in... More

We are a husband and wife owner/operator operation. We conduct ourselves and our business in accordance with the teachings and guidance of Jesus Christ. We imperfect beings who fess up when we mess up, and then work to make it right. You reserved Room 21 for October 09. Upon your 5:50pm arrival on that date, you announced that you did... More

Black Bear Lodge's friendly & helpful owners more than make up for the somewhat basic accommodations. They were very helpful & also accommodating to a last minute change when my mother-in-law decided she rather stay the night with us than drive home late. The place looks to be going through a slow but steady upgrade. The units were nothing fancy,... More

Thank you for staying with us, and your kind words. We are indeed continuing a steady upgrade. We have done a lot of bedding/linen upgrades, painting, door locks, wifi, etc. This winter we will be upgrading to HD TVs, new tile, new website, and upgrading our pool area. We hope to see you again. More

Robert introduced himself when I walked in.... how often does that happen! The room was clean and comfortable. The property was far enough away from the road to be quiet and afford a really nice view. The bed was very comfortable. We felt like we were visiting a friend's place.

Thank you for staying with us and for being such pleasant people to chat with. We hope that you return in different seasons for the Theatre, and natural wonders of our area the next time you come to Colorado. We will have some more remodeling done by the time you return. More

It ranked the lowest of all the places we stayed on the trip, but still was OK. Small kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, dishes and non-functioning burner set. Comfortable beds and a standard small tube TV we did not watch. It was very clean, but had an aroma of disinfectant that was somewhat off-putting. Shower stall was extremely small. The owner... Hello and thank you for your business. We set our cleaning and disinfection standards to those on the Center for Disease Control website. We must have over mixed our cleaning products for which we apologize. Insurance made us disconnect the stove tops in our rooms: we will be replacing those with tile counter tops this winter. Our breakfast includes banana... More

We enjoyed our stay at the Black Bear Lodge. It isn't fancy, but the room was very clean and comfortable and the hosts were welcoming. It's away from the center of Grand Lake, so you need to drive for dinner, but we liked being away from the crowds. We would definitely stay here again.

Not a chain feel but pleasant and welcoming. Good service and breakfast. Rooms are small but fun and clean. I enjoyed the ambiance and got what I expected. New owners with a long list of improvements to make to stay open but I admire their passion for the property.

The 5-star reviews on this property really threw us off. We had high expectations, but this is simply a road-side motel and nothing more. Yes, the owner is very nice and I can see why people want to help him out, but over-rating a place is a disservice to the readers who trust TripAdvisor. The rooms are small and nothing... More

I'm glad I passed on the hotels in Granby which had less to offer and cost more! I loved the look and feel of the lodge and talking with the owner to get a little savings helped out too. She was very friendly, as was her husband I met the next day. I needed a room with a microwave and... More
