Basic motel with nice decor. Clean. The kitchenettes were very useful. Only complain is that Wifi only reached room 23. The kids loved the pool Hot coffee in the mornings Hot tub was nice (we were just too busy to enjoy it)

There are much better and more deserving lodges to stay in this great area. Pick anywhere but here! The owner is rude and has no clue how to run a service industry business. Read the reviews.... He makes a habit of yelling, lying, and misrepresenting to his customers. This is a Motel not a lodge.

The rooms are small, dirty, and decades old. Management was grumpy. For the money it was pretty bad. The TV's are small and ancient. We never found ice. Check out time is 10:00 a.m., which is too early and the pool and hot tub close at 9:00 which is also too early.

My husband and I spent 2 nights here during the very busy 4th of July weekend. The lodge is a few miles from the main town. The rooms are adequate. We had a kitchenette which was a bit cramped, but well-enough supplied that we were able to cook 1 dinner and 1 breakfast there. There are some picnic tables out... More

As another reviewer wrote, I wish I could rate it higher. A great value in a woodsy natural style, with great people at the hotel. The view of the mountains and lake with a fragrant forrest breeze made just sitting outside the room a delight. I am already making plans to take my adult children and grandkids there for the... We loved the name of the place, location was ok, loved their golden retriever, but unfortunately this place was not nice. Overpriced for what you get. Very outdated, didn't feel fresh and clean, and couldn't wait to checkout and go into another hotel so I could shower and get cleaned up. The worst part is that they have lights right... More

Picked this hotel driving on the way to RMNP. It's nice its family owned and not some corporation. The hotel was clean but the rooms were small. No spectacular views but the pine look was nice. I didn't know what would be available or exactly where grand lake was so I decided on this hotel which was on the way... More

Reminiscent of Mom & Pop motels of yore. Clean & comfortable with in-room coffee! Nice sized room with two queen sized beds. They have kitchenettes as well. Good maintenance. Owners are very friendly, including Rocky (dog, not squirrel), Right on the main hwy just south of town, nice view of the lake. If you are tired of the stuffiness of... More

Stayed at the Black Bear for one night on the way into Rocky Mountain National Park. Room and bathroom clean, but very small. One thing of note is that the windows face the highway. I don't think the room had a/c so if you are sensitive to noise, it might be hard to keep the window open. I used earplugs... More
