We've stay at the Valiton about 1-4 times a year and have been since 2010. I use to work there and the hotel is immaculate. From the entrance to the rooms everything has it's own person vintage touch. The ballroom/dining area is well lit and spacious, they even have a piano and sometimes there's a gentleman that will be playing.... More

This restaurant is in the charming old Fairplay Hotel. The first thing we noted on entering the hotel was the signs attached to the ladies and mens rooms "Toilets out of order". We walked into the restaurant 2 tables had customers and a waitress was speaking to a person at the desk. No eye contact with us so we seated... More

We have a great time! The owner of the Hotel is amazing - she was always friendly and helped us out whenever we needed something. Joe the Bartender was another incredible person along with Shelly. The chief can cook an mouth watering omelette! Close to fishing lakes and other fun places to visit.

We stayed here over old-years eve, its was icy out an we loved the ability to walk to a local saloon/bar to ring the new year in. It was pricy for what it offered. Smokey smell permeated throughout the hotel - agreed it was bitterly cold, but the room was a joke. Seriously antiquated, and the bathroom rudimentory as the... More

As my rating suggests, it's an average hotel. It has a lot of charm and character to it but don't expect the all out bells and whistles. Staff was helpful but a bit disorganized during our stay. The rooms have the bare minimums but again, if you are there just to sleep you'll be all set. We first were assigned... More

We like staying in Colorado's old, historic hotels. Our room at The Fairplay Hotel was a little quirky, but that's what makes these hotels interesting. The problem with this hotel is all of the clutter. There are building materials scattered around the grounds and the lobby needed a good cleaning and clean out. Unfortunately, when you come downstairs, you overlook... More

We recently came into the hotel for lunch after a funeral and the owner basically threw us out. We rearranged her tables to accommodate the 30 odd people and she threw a fit. Once a former waitress, I was always glad to see a party that size take the initiative. She behaved like a witch until my mother in law... More

Sept 1,2015( stayed 8/29/30) When in Fairplay,my husband & I have been staying at this beautiful hotel .I must say it has never been clean, but this recent stay was the worst!!. Upon check in,a woman appeared and walked to the computer never greeting us. I mentioned I called a week ago to make certain we had a ground floor room... More

This is an old but quaint hotel in FairPlay. Nice old western bar and a restaurant on site serving lunch and dinner. The biggest issue is that it's virtually impossible to speak with anyone directly on the phone. You have to leave a message and they get back to you whenever they do. I made reservations online but when I... More

It was late at night and I was coming off a 14er climb and I felt lucky to find an unclaimed room in the Fairplay Hotel. The history of this establishment is quite fascinating, but the new owners have not made much progress in upgrading the old systems in the last year. I was pleased to have a comfortable bed... More
