We have stayed here twice nd loved it both time. It is a historical site, so the amenities are definitely not 5-star. However, it is a cool place and is very fitting for the town, especially coupled with the Durango to Silverton train experience. If you're looking for luxury, go elsewhere. If you're after a uniquely pleasant experience, the Strater... More

Just stayed here over Labor Day weekend and really liked it. Its right on the main street with all the restaurants, bars and shopping. They had a very nice contintental breakfast, pleasant staff, nice rooms, comfortable beds. 2 bars and a restaurant within the hotel. The bars are very lively and fun. Theres a convenient hotel parking lot. Wifi too! We... More

The Strater is top notch in every way. High class and comfortable at the same time. The decoration in the time period is exquisite and authentic. We stay at the Strater every time we are in Durango. Thanks for keeping it the best stay in Durango.

We enjoyed a quick one night stay and have to say even though the room was small, everything was clean and very cute. Check in was nice and the parking attendant was great. We enjoyed dinner at the DIAMOND BELLE SALOON and it was nice. The place was packed but the service was still top notch. Adam Swanson, was performing... More

My husband and I stayed 2 nights. Room was on the small side but expected that since it is a old hotel, very comfortable. The front desk staff was very helpfull with all our questions and needs. Parking was across the street but not out of the way. The morning breakfast was really wonderful with a wide varitiy of different... More

the strater is a fun spot to stay. the staff is very nice and helpful. the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the room was a bit small, with a full size bed. Great entertainment in the 2 bars. Very good location for shopping and restaurants.

Nicely redone rooms and very accomodating staff. The price was a bit high. Parking was fine though half a block away(what do you expect in a small old town). Complimentary breakfast was incredible (posole (pork stew) and sausage and biscuits) were very filling.

We stayed 3 nights, wished we had stayed less time. Paid for an upgraded room but unclear what that really got us other than higher price. Parking inconvenient. Staff at desk not always friendly or accommodating. Breakfast okay. Saloon was nice but always crowded. Noise from the not so nice bar acoross Main Street was annoying in the middle of... More

Family with 2 kids. 2 nights. We had a wonderful stay that met fully our expectations! Nice old style room, clean and very special with a visitor book that tells stories! The saloon (restaurant) was so good, that we went twice! It is located in the middle of hisoric downtown, just perfect. Free parking. Nice staff, we will come again!

I stayed here for two nights last week on a work trip. Love the location, right on Main Street. I was given a queen + twin bed room and there was sufficient room with the twin bed. The room would have been crowded if there was another queen bed in there. I have to say the queen sized bed is... More
