This B&B hotel couldn't be in a better location. It's one block from the great Durango downtown area, and because it's on a side-street, it has a calmer feeling. It's a beautiful side-street, too, with restaurants and shops. The building itself feels really old, which makes it feel authentic for its time in history; creaky wooden stairs and the interior... I have so many positive things to say about this lodging that I don't know where to start. First, although it's called a hotel it has the feel of a (admittedly large) B&B. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner who was immediately helpful in meeting our request to change from a king to a double room. He... More

We have just finished a tour of the beautiful state of Colorado. The highlight for us was staying at the historic Rochester Hotel in Durango and getting to know its proprietor Kirk. What an absolute gent he is. Both Kirk and his staff made our stay so welcoming and special. We loved the Hotel and our room and it was... More

Friendly, Family owned - historic brothel from the 1800's! You'll love it. and their included breakfast can't be beat. The rooms are spacious with great beds, the grounds are beautiful—Wednesday afternoons there is live, local music in "The Secret Garden".

We drove to Durango from Minnesota to visit our daughter who is a local college student. She recommended the Rochester to us. I was a little skeptical at first because we usually like one of the new hotels but I sure am glad we listened to her! The rooms were charming and spotlessly clean. The staff was friendly and helpful.... More

The Rochester Hotel is a perfect getaway retreat. Our room was incredibly clean and well maintained. Everything was up to date and fresh. We enjoy lounging in our room after a hard day, and the room was cozy and included a nice TV and wifi. With the hotel being off the main ave, there is no traffic noise, and the... More

Some rooms are better than others and our first room was noisy and by the street so they put us in a large room upstairs with a king bed and it was terrific. We then noticed that there are two rooms in the back of hotel on the ground floor that access the garden area---they also looked like nice rooms.... More

The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Durango. Steamworks if right around the corner, and other great restaurants and the Animas river is very walkable. The rooms and property are well maintained and the staff is fabulous. The breakfast is also delicious. They have some rooms that are dog friendly that and the doggie package worked out great... More

Very clean and wonderful breakfast. The even had a doggie package for our dachshund. Close to everything. Only complaint is noise. People coming in late after party sit in the patio and talk loud. Parking is premium so get your spot early in back and keep it. You can walk to everything you need

I traveled to Durango on business. Had a choice of a national chain or the Rochester - Leland Hotel. I am so glad I chose the latter. Step back in time to a brick building built in 1892. Polished oak wooden floors, smaller rooms, of course. Ambiance, history, immaculate, lovely. All cotton linens (yea!) and an effort in sustainability that... More
