We stayed at Lightner Creek Campground again this year which is year number 31 for us being there. The new owners are wonderful and the campground is just as great as it has been for many years. It is beautiful, clean, quiet, peaceful, and the hosts are very friendly and helpful. Lois C.

This campground is awesome! The owners are very nice and accomodating. The facilities are well maintained. The bathroom and showers are spotless. Easy access to town. The campground is nestled between mountains by a stream. Quiet, clean and beautiful!

This is a beautiful place that is located up a canyon about 10 minutes or so from town. We stayed in a camper cabin. The bathrooms are really clean and the pool was very nice and clean as well. There is a small playground for kids too. The camper cabin was just like any other, but the lights are solar-... More

If you want to camp someplace close to downtown, this is the place to go. It ha all the amenities like showers and a store (they sell ice for $2 bag), which the forest service campgrounds do not offer. It's kind of 'camping lite' but if you want to be close to everything, be able to shower, yet still be... More

My family was blessed with a stay at Lightner Creek July 18th-22nd. We drove in the dark with rain but even that kind of start did not dampen our vacation. We stayed in a tent among tent trailers. Their were several families and much to our delight, dogs. The campground was blessfully quiet after 10 p.m. and one would never... More

This is quite simply the nicest campground we have ever stayed at. Its close to Durango but still quiet and secluded and is incredibly CLEAN. It is beautifully landscaped and laid out very well and has more hummingbirds than we have ever seen in one place. Bathrooms and showers were bright, well ventilated and well maintained. The showers are always... More

This is one of the best campgrounds we've stayed in. We were on the creek and enjoyed the Colorado beauty while being ten minutes from town. It is very quiet, the bathrooms and showers are spotless, and the surroundings are beautiful. Electric is available even for some tent sites. This will definitely be an annual trip for us.

We stayed the first full week of July. We normally stay in State or National parks but could not find around SW CO with hook-ups, so we picked Lightner. We were overjoyed!!! The sites were small but the trees helped, as did the wonderful campers. Our children found friends within minutes of being there and didn't want to leave the... More

My family and I stayed here back in June when we came to Durango for a wedding. We found this place on TA and it was better than all the great reviews it has already received. We stayed in one of their housekeeping cabins with our 4 small children. Worked out great for our needs with all the benefits of... More

Lightner Creek campground is indeed on Lightner Creek. We stayed in a trailer site with full hookups. A number of seniors who are "on duty" helping new arrivals, cleaning, generally watching over the campground. the result is clean restrooms and showers, and a generally welcoming atmosphere. The owners are very responsive and helpful. Pleasant pool available. Laundry open 24 hours... More
