We enjoyed that it was out of town, but still very close to downtown shopping & dining. Sites are gravel and not level. We needed to borrow blocks from another RVer in our group to get level. (We carry 2sets of stacking blocks & 2 6x8 wood blocks, but that wasn't enough.) Most sites are very close together. Only a... More

After our first visit to Durango, I would definitely come back to this campground. Great setting, quiet and well maintained. The bath houses were clean, campsites nice and all hookups were in order. The staff and owners were great and highly engaged and visible. My kids loved the heated pool after we dragged them around on day trips. Yes, wi-fi... More

Campground was one of the cleanest I have ever seen. However, very very tight quarters. Kind of a rack em and stack em campground. I could have shook hands out of the window with our neighbors. Too close for comfort. Very regimented campground.

We had a great experience staying in a camper cabin here for 2 nights. The camper cabins are very basic - battery operated light, and bunk beds (just the mattresses - BYO bedding). We opted for the the creekside cabin for a tad more $, The creek was dry, but my kids still enjoyed exploring it. By opting to stay... More

Stayed at Lightner Creek for 2 nights in the course of a 2-week trip across the West. It was the best overall campground we stayed at on the trip. Great, friendly service in the office. Quaint, smallish campground in a peaceful setting in the valley along the creek. A variety of sites to accommodate most anyone - we had a... More

This campground was recommended to us by a retired couple who make Lighter Creek Campground their destination during the summer months. We had a gorgeous site along the creek. Campsites are very private. The sights are easy in and out. Other than the hummingbirds zipping by your head, the campground is extremely quiet. Something we did not realize until the... More

We had a great time here. We were in the group site with another family for three days. There's not much shade but there's a big pavilion. Also the pool is great, and the whole place is clean. We found all the staff and the other campers very nice.

I am giving this campground a very good because of the service we received during our 1 night stay. We arrived limping, one of our camper tires was in shreds. Traveling from Montana it was late and we were crippled and we arrived right in the middle of their ice cream social so it was very busy for them in... More

Took my Boy Scout Troop to Durango Colorado to go explore the mountain ranges in our Jeeps. Everyone at Lightner Creek, from top to bottom, made our stay one that my boys will remember for a lifetime. Exceptionally clean bathrooms, wonderful activities and amazing staff made this a truly wonderful experience. It is VERY hard to please 24 boys ages 12-17... More

If your looking for a GREAT campground, this is the place! Tucked back in the hills about 5-7 minutes from Historic Downtown Durango. Our family was only suppose to stay for 4 nights before traveling onto another destination. We loved it so much we changed our plans and stayed the whole duration of our trip! They were very accommodating and... More
