My wife and I stayed in the Pink Room which was cozy and warm. All the rooms on the 2nd floor are decorated in individual themes. The hotel was clean. Although the restaurant is not open to the general public, guests are served a tasty and filling breakfast. If you shun the impersonal, plastic and chrome corporate motels, the Rio... More

This was one of life's great surprise . We lucked on to this B&B in Dolores. Susi was one of the B&B best hostess ever. You have to try the breakfast to believe. Stayed in Teddy Roosevelt room and next to Zane Grey room . This is where he wrote "RIDERS OF PURPLE SAGE." Outstanding experience. Loved the stay.

First of all - if you are coming for a Hilton experience - you will be disappointed. My husband and I were looking for something with old west charm, away from chain stores and crowded streets - we found the perfect place in the Rio Grande! We were greeted by a sweet and well-behaved Pomeranian followed by Susi, the owner.... More

We were greeted by a guy in bear feet smoking a cig outside the Hotel. (That is not a typo...he had footwear that looked like giant bear paws) I believe he may have been a tennant in the Hotel...or just a local character. The room is small (We stayed in room 2 the Roosevelt room) as well as a tiny... More

I found Delores after looking for bed and breakfasts near Mesa Verde. When we arrived after a long day of travel and exploration we found the door to be unlocked, but nearly a ghost town. :) When we finally found someone to ask about checking in, we were pleasantly greeted by Joe and Suzie. Nearing 9pm, we asked if there... More

Drove down to Dolores in October to see the leaves in color. A highlight of our trip was the little rio grand southern b&b with a long history. The small rooms are decorated in plush Victorian style. We were very comfortable and slept well both nights snuggled under the many pillows and featherbed blankets. Pet friendly for our service dog,... More

This is a horrible place. Unless you want to listen to drunken karoke or horrible bands that echo throughout the entire town. Dolores is a sweet quiet town. Except when this establishment cranks up the karoke loud enough to echo off the cliffs of this nice little river town. The idea of eating there is horrifying to me. The last... More

I read the previous reviews and was somewhat leary to stay here but the charm called me in! I travel often and was sooo impressed with this bed and breakfast...WARNING: DON'T EXPECT Don't expect a brand new, evrything in place, perfect chain type hotel. It was true to life, an old place with a laid back feeling to it. There... More

Driving through Dolores, CO on a late Saturday morning, we are looking for a place to have breakfast when we run into this two story structure bearing an impressive sign: SOUTHERN HOTEL, it says, "on the national register of historical places, built 1893". All kind of signs surround the historical plate, advertising beer, bar, restaurant, breakfast, lunch, diner and even... More

The webpage looked good, but we were very disappointed. We stayed here in June 2010 as part of a 4-day bike loop through the San Juans. Due to River Festival, everywhere else in town was booked. Had we known what the place looked like in real life, we would definitely have booked at the Schoolhouse B&B outside town and sucked... More
