The place is very basic. It is a two storied facility that appears to be half-hostel, half-boarding home/apartment since there were people there who lived there "long term." The rooms were very basic, with bunk beds made of pine wood and others metal. The hostess the night I arrived was very courteous and helpful. The house is in a busy,... more

Myself and three friends reserved a room in the hostel but were (by the luck of the draw) instead placed in the guest house. This was an awesome experience. The owner was more than helpful, even driving us around Denver and hooking us up with coupons and valuable tips and information. Not to mention, her great granddaughter who lives there... more

I stayed at the hostel for 5 days in late April and enjoyed my time there. Its in a nice quiet, residential location yet is still very close to many restaurants, bars, great public transportation, and is minutes away from downtown Denver. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful and the other guest were great company. As a... more

We loved staying in Denver! We stayed at the guest house, great neighborhood, house is so romantic, nice, fun... Staff was specially nice with us, as friends. Life is about relationships, not only places. Enjoy! :) more

If you expect a downtown multiple star place, don't book this hostel but if you're after a budget alternative in a quiet, easily accessible neighborhood this place is just fine. Slightly old and a little decrepit in some parts (windows, shower) but with fantastic and enormously helpful staff. I've traveled a lot and though this hostel is not the most... more

Dirty, Dingy, Dumpy; w/ Madman as proprietor!!‎ - Richard‎ - Today The manager is a constant drunk and or drug addict. He "mislaid" my paid in advance reservation for the private suite upon my arrival. Puts me in small room adjacent to main dorm instead, said he was doing me a big favor. One morning, he unlocks my private door... more

The management has a good heart and the right spirit about hostelling (including a free burger and hot dog on Saturday night). The place is a tad dirty (bring flip flops), a tad disorganized (slow check-in, ran out of toilet paper), but the location is a pleasant walk from the downtown, and just across the street are a Thai restaurant,... more

Summary of my experience at the Hostel of the Rockies: Beware, Ramon the proprietor, is quite the lunatic. Upon arrival, I knocked on his door for registration. He said I knocked too hard, and only policemen knock like that. He did not have the private room which I had booked 3 weeks in advance. He broke the padlock off my... more

I REPEAT, and I'm sorry about the all caps, but I feel that strongly about this, DO NOT EVER, EVER STAY AT THIS HOSTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was physically attacked by the owner (who was drunk) and had to call the police on him in able to get my stuff and get my money back. The bathrooms were filthy, hell, everywhere was... more
