This is a very old hotel that has been restored to it's old glory. They have a rustic Out-Of-The-West Bar, a fine dining eatery that seats 47, a well appointed lobby and very nice modern bedrooms decorated to fit the early american theme. We found the entire experience enjoyable.

I admit that I love restored historic hotels, and theWindsor is Gem. I was booking a solo get a way for Thanksgiving and since I arrived in the afternoon, I missed the Main Thanksgiving meal. To my surprise the owner invited me to join their friends, staff, and family in the main dining room for a full Thanksgiving dinner. If... More

We were just passing through nearby Alamosa, saw the excellent reviews for the Windsor, and decided to try it. We loved it. We chose a room with a king-size bed for a slight price increase. The room, along with the rest of the hotel that we saw, had been superbly restored. Our spacious room had period-style furniture, but it had... More

We decided to try the Prix Fixe Menu for the six course dinner and were not disappointed. Each course was innovative and delicious. The presentation was perfect. We opted for the extra $15 wine pairing which was very generous and complimented the dishes. We chose the early seating and sent the daughter and her husband to the later one which... More

My family and I were really looking forward to our stay at the Windsor because we had researched and read so many great things about the Windsor hotel! We arrived here in the late evening and felt like we were walking in to a whole nother era... I completely fell in love with this awesome place! Just reading about all... More

First time reviewer but a avid user of trip advisor. My wife, daughter and I stayed at the Windsor Hotel for 3 days after Christmas 2014. (based on trip advisor reviews) We stayed here to ski at Wolf Creek. The drive to the ski hill was about 35-40 minutes with little traffic. The hotel is beautiful, the service exceptional and... Del Norte is is located in south central Colorado's mountains. The Windsor Hotel was built in 1872 on the frontier of the western U.S. expansion. Today it brings history up-to-date with comfortable quarters and a very fine restaurant managed by credentialed chefs. You'll enjoy the casual and friendly treatment the owners provide and you'll sense the can-do efforts of energetic... More

Traveling in the area, we picked the Windsor because of the TripAdvisor reviews. For me to expound on the history of the hotel, the story of it being saved from the wrecking ball etc. would be very repetitive of the prior reviews. I did find it humbling to see a list of the donors that aided in making the restoration... More

We recently took a trip staying mainly at historic hotels rather than more modern ones. This is one of two hotels that earned our top ranking on the trip, the other being the Lake Yellowstone Hotel in Yellowstone National Park. The Windsor has been very nicely renovated over the last few years, providing a very nice lodging experience in a... More

The best renovated old hotel that I have visited. The room that I stayed was spacious, with a King size bed, large flat tv, and several comfortable chairs. Although the bathroom is small, with a corner shower, it was adequate and modern. Small things like new fixtures, updated stool (higher) are appreciated by us older visitors. The hotel had coffee/tea... More
