While heading home (and not really wanting to go back home quite yet...) from a 3 week vacation to the Durango, Pagosa Springs and Great Sand Dune areas, we thought La Veta, CO might be a nice place to stall a couple of days before driving back. We had made no reservations, (we had never been in this area before), and were not sure where to stay. Thank goodness the old style sign simply painted on the side of a downtown building caught my eye. We thought we would drive there and see if there was a room available. My husband had his doubts about a room being available but I said lets try. Am I glad we checked "The Inn at the Spanish Peaks" for a room! They have 3 rooms for guests(suites with private balcony or patio), and they had one available for us. The other family staying there in the other 2 rooms while we were there were the nicest people from Texas. The owners do their best to try to make you feel like you are at home.
