We had a lovely time at the Hotel St. Nicholas staying in their miner's cottage. There is so much history in the area and the hotel was formerly a hospital operated by the Sisters of Mercy in the late 1800s. Beautiful building and the miner's cottage was well done, very comfortable, peaceful, well stocked kitchen, beautiful views - I could... More

If you've read other reviews on this place you already know that it's a renovated former hospital. From the outside it looks a little dark and creepy and the sign isn't well-lit, but on the inside it's bright and the rooms are cheerily decorated. It was clean and comfortable, and we stayed in a king room (#6). That room is... More

This was a super cool place to stay. My son and I were, admittedly, on a "ghost trip" staying at about 3 historical hotels in Colorado. This was our first stop and we were both charmed by this hotel. My room #16...a cute corner room with 3 big windows that opened. That night a thunderstorm came through and it was... More

Wow! What a cool hotel to stay at! This was a hospital built in 1898 and ran by the Catholic Church and ran by the sisters. The hostital was purchased and renovated in 1996 into a B & B. There are rumors of ghosts and tons of history are part of the charm and the folks running are very pleasant.... More

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel St. Nicholas over Labor Day weekend for our wedding anniversary. We had initially planned to stay 3 nights, however, we enjoyed it so much we stayed a 4th. A great deal of care and hard work has gone into restoring this beautiful building. Susan was great both during and prior to our... More

This is a great hotel - I was kind of worried that it might be spooky - but it is cheerful and nicely decorated! The first night I stayed in rom 11 (with 2 double beds) - the bathroom was huge! The second night I stayed in room 16 - very nicely arranged. I expect to be back in the... More

If you are into historical hotels - this should be at the top of your list. Once an old hospital turned into a nursing home - now a hotel. It has charm, but not the hotel if you want value. It is two blocks off the main gambling row.

Apparently started life as a hospital run by the Sisters to care for sick and injured miners. Now stands as the best hotel in Cripple Creek on top of "Heart Attack Hill", more about that later! We stayed 4 nights and got there a day early, the room we had booked for the last 3 days was occupied but we... More

My husband and I took a motorcycle trip to Cripple Creek, CO last week. it was our first visit to Cripple Creek, with a side trip up Pike's Peak. I had researched several hotels in Cripple Creek on Trip Advisor and decided on the Hotel St. Nicholas because of it's price and location away from the gambling area two streets... More

We stayed at the hotel on a Week night. The bar was not open so that was a Hugh disappointment based on the reviews we read about the bar. The flooring and stairs have lots of squeaks and groans so you hear anyone coming and going. If you get a room with the window above the door the light comes... More
