We took a mini getaway for our anniversary. After reviewing many places we chose this place because of it's character and the pics of the rooms. It's not a "cookie cutter" type room. When we checked in the desk clerk gave us a different room than the one we'd reserved as it was nicer...we were very pleased with the room... More

The service was good, and the bed was great. It is an older house, and has its own bar. It's conveniently located. It's clean. The view of the city was great. The breakfast was okay. I liked it and we will stay there again when we don't have the dog with us.

We spent one night on a short get-away trip. The website was frustrating because the rooms had links, supposedly to show each room, but the same photo was used for each room. We wanted a king room but the system only let us book a queen, supposedly no kings available. Upon check-in, we were told there were two kings available... More

Spent a night at the Hotel St. Nicholas on December 29th and enjoyed the experience. Two blocks to Bennett Street, casinos and dining. The conversion of an 1898 hospital to a hotel, on a steep hill, overlooking the town is fantastic. Bought a couple of cocktails at the Boiler Tavern at $4 a piece, nice little bar seating 20-25 people.We... More

Great choices, and mine was looking down two blocks to main street. I wish I had used the jacuzzi and sauna on premises, but was a sea level visitor dealing with the 9,400 ft altitude for the first of my two night stay midweek straight from Denver airport. Very friendly slots at several of older casinos on main street . Will... More

We'd never been to Cripple Creek and on a tour of fall leaves we found ourselves at a crossroads last Friday night. We chose the road to Cripple Creek and my wife looked up rooms while I drove. She found the St. Nicholas and called to see if they had any rooms (only so much you can do on an... More

The best thing about Cripple Creek, CO is the Hotel St. Nicholas. Situated on the top of a steep hill (making for a calorie burning climb since we did not elect to take the shuttle), the historic property is a gem. Converted from an old hospital, the hotel is supposedly haunted...but we saw no evidence. We did see evidence of... More

Susan runs a great hotel. Breakfast is included and if you are lucky to be there on the right nights the bar is open and you will think you have found Cheers in Colorado. We have stayed several times and always want a different room so we can enjoy the entire property.

We had booked reservations here through the internet. From the net it looked charming and Victorian. In reality it looked like it was furnished from a second-hand-store. Apparently the remodel of the hotel had occurred years ago, because ppaint was chipping, and it looked unmaintained. It was supposed to be quaint, I guess, but it just looked run down.
