Mountain campground. A little remote, but peaceful and safe. Nice amenities; impressed with the washhouse. Clean hot showers and the facility was kept clean despite the sand. The staff is friendly and eager to help and if one were to judge by the number of people staying the same weekend, it is well liked. Places for RV's and tent campers... More

This campground is a nice place to stay if you want a remote, mountain setting. The staff is very friendly, and the two ladies that run the place are fourth generation family members of the May family. The bug museum collection is most impressive, reasonably priced and very educational (some of the insects were captured as early as 1904!). The... More

One approaches private campgrounds with trepidation. No standards, unlike State/national parks mean highly variable services. We were sent to Golden Eagle by the Cheyenne Mountain staff. Most people will, as CM only has 61 sites and they are always full it seems. Golden is a large site, a few miles south of Cheyenne. Check-in buildings are Colorado rustic (tree growing... More

We had an electric and water site with nice shade. The showers were clean and hot. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a bug museum on the grounds which was worth an hour or two. The lake was pretty low but the kids enjoyed fishing anyway. We will stay here again. The only drawback was noise at night... More
