We were visiting friends in Golden but had a reservation mess- up and this was the closest RV park with space available. HOWEVER, at the end of the day, 4 days actually, we found camping here and driving through the canyon well worth the inconvenience. Our view out the front window of our Motorhome was probably the best we have... More

We were only at this KOA for one night as a stop over for our travels west. They gave us a pull in sight for our 40' RV we had no troubles getting in or backing out. The view was spectacular. The space was small but clean. The fire ring was also clean. Helpful staff. The drive in from Denver... More

We stayed here for 2 days. The place was basic and clean. We have a 5 lb dog who was almost attacked by a large dog who came charging at him on a walk. The owner of the dog turned out to be one of the staff. I informed him that the dog was supposed to be on a leash... More

My wife and I stayed at the KOA in Central City for a couple weekends in our 43’ Fifth Wheel toy hauler. Great sites, level pads, full hookups, clean restrooms, gorgeous views. The staff were extremely helpful and recommended a great little restaurant for dinner. Nice amenities, right next to Blackhawk and close to Idaho Springs and the Indian Hot... More

I have been visiting this particular KOA several times throughout the past 5-6 years, and usually have had no issues. The upper portion of this campground (this campground has an upper and lower level to it) has great views of the surrounding mountains and Central City. The campground itself is pretty clean and usually nice and quite. My issue is... More

This KOA has recently sold hands and has many nice improvements to show for it. Beautiful gravel paves roads and new pads, tables, grills and fire pits . We are on campsite #10 which has beautiful views of the city below. The offices , showers, laundry are all newer and very nice. They have A store with the basic needs... More

If you were planning on being able to run in and out of Denver from this location like you can from most KOA's near metro areas, you will be disappointed. It is west of several steep climbs on I-70, and if you are driving a loaded down RV, and especially if you are towing, beware of the extremely steep road... More

My other half and I planned a close to home getaway to Central City. It is enough out of the city to make it a nice getaway. We took a drive up to the KOA a few weeks before our trip and mapped out what spots within the park would be best. We chose 42, and a runner-up would be... More
