We stayed during the week leading up to Christmas (Cabin #11, Eagle Nest) and found it to be an extremely relaxing vacation, which is exactly what we were going for. A couple specific thoughts below: - In the winter, the hill leading up to the cabins/facility might be a little steep for FWD cars without chains to make easily. Plan... More

We stayed in cabin four, the dog house and it's the nicest dog house you will ever be in. The bed is comfy and the down duvet kept us plenty warm in snowy December. The mini kitchen is two hot plates, a microwave and fridge. (The bigger cabins did have an oven and four burners) The two heaters kept us... More

Was looking for a romantic getaway for my husband's birthday. We stayed in the bird house and the decor was very charming. But...the bed crackled every time we moved...there must be some kind of protective cover on the mattress. It was also hard and I woke up with a backache. My husband slept okay though. The pools were very nice... More

This place is a quiet little gem, family owned and hidden in the mountains. The quaint little cabin are warm and comfortable with all of the amenities of home. The beds were comfortable and clean with quality linens. The hot spring were clean, warm and inviting. Our stay was brief, but our return is guaranteed and we will bring others... More

I was in Colorado for 10 days with my best friend for my 40th birthday vacation, and our 2 days at Avalanche Ranch was my favorite part of our trip. We stayed in cabin #8, it was so quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed the hot springs in the evenings, when there really wasn't anyone else using them, so nice. I... More

The property at avalanche ranch is breathtaking like a fairytale. The pools are very nice and clean. Each cabin is decorated different and the wagons are so fun! Kids love the campfire and cowboy Steve and his wife. There is a walking trail and a private pond for canoeing. This place really does not miss a beat! The personal touches... More

Rustic, mostly small, cabins and loft, covered wagon sleepers and a ranch house for larger groups. Been here numerous times, our Grandkids enjoy this trip more than much more exotic locales. New hot springs pools just add to the ways to relax. Play with the farm animals, fish in the pond or river across the highway, veg in the pools,... More

I had a great two-night stay in the Shepherd's Wagon, and loved the wonderful grounds, the private fishing water on the Crystal River across the road (added, unadvertised benefit!), and especially the great hot springs. The setting is magnificent! And the pools are a lot nicer than others I've been to (like Ojo Caliente in New Mexico). Uncrowded, nice pebbled... More

My teen daughter, golden retriever and I stayed in the shepherd's cabin -- a restored 1909 original. It was VERY cool, and I love the personal little luxurious touches the owners provide -- a plate of cookies with a note, towels tied up in a ribbon, along with a special "pet" towel for the dog, a small cookie jar of... We visited Avalanche Ranch immediately after our ski mountain closed down and it was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy some quiet time. The Gypsy wagon was perfect for 2 people and a dog. They even gave us dog treats and cookies upon arrival! We were super close to the bathrooms and hot springs and had our own appointed... More
