I have stayed at many hotels in Costa Rica on about 10 different trips- this one is beautiful and an amazing escape from the 'norm'. The 'rooms' are individual bungalows that are huge and beautiful- as others have mentioned. We found the food to be delicious and better than 'standard CR fare', but not inexpensive. The staff are lovely and... More

This hotel is located 1mile away from Volcán Tenorio Nacional Park main entrance to Rio Celeste. There you can walk to the unique blueish waterfall and to Tellideros where the coloring of the river originates. You are not allowed to swin in the park but the hotel has an onsite trail that leads to the river. That was the main... More

Our family of four was in Guancaste for a week and choose to spend one night here on our way back to San Jose. I wish we would have stayed an extra day or two. The last part of the drive to get to Rio Celeste Hideway, maybe 6 km or so was for four wheel drive vehicles only, wow... More

We only stayed two nights here and would have happily stayed longer. Arriving after the worst road we had experienced so far in Costa Rica it was mind blowing to pull up to this superb establishment. Superb suite with a balcony right in the forest, a walkway down to the Rio Celeste and fabulous grounds. Food and drink unimpeachable with... More

We stayed at Rio Celeste Hideaway for a four-night, five-day stay. Nothing could have made it better! My friend and I had never traveled to Costa Rica before and I had a lot of questions. In the months prior to our trip, I sent many emails to the hotel staff about tour details and tips and always received a prompt,... More

My wife and I drove up from Alajuela on Feb. 2/15 and stayed until Feb. 4th. There are two ways to reach the park - turning left immediately after leaving San Rafael De Guatuso and at Katira. The San Rafael route is about 22 kms of washboard gravel - the last 6 kms are extremely rough (very steep climbs, poor... More

Unusually I find myself in significant disagreement with many of the reviewers of this place. I wonder where they have been if they really believe this is magical! We had four nights here, definitely too many, and admittedly had very poor weather. But putting that aside, this is a very ordinary place which seems poorly run. The rooms are huge, but... More

This hotel was one of the greatest happy accidents I've ever had while traveling. My group's initial plan was to simply take a day trip Rio Celeste from the Arenal area, see the waterfall and drive back, but we left La Fortuna too late and when we reached the last turn down to the actual National Park, it had started... What an amazing place. It was the first place my boyfriend and I stayed in Costa Rica, it was certainly the most memorable for so many reasons. The drive up in the rain was so much fun with a 4-wheel drive, and when we arrived, the hotel was so beautiful, we were in shock. They greeted us with a pretty... More

We spent one night at the Rio Celeste Hideaway at the end of January. The drive there had me clutching the steering wheel and tense from head to toe. Imagine driving for miles on rocks that resemble a dry river bed. There was a regular car in the parking lot but I'm not sure how it made it. I was... More
