If you like to be close to all the sights in Tuscany, without the hassle of staying in a big city, I recommend the Castle of Montegufoni, very nice apartments very well furnished and the grounds absolutely beautiful

This castle is absolutely beautiful, and a very cool way to get away from the hustle and bustle of Florence. The restaurant team was wonderful, we had a cooking class with Chef Laura and Francesco and we learned how to make everything on the dinner menu for that evening, including hand-rolled pasta, Ragu sauce, and Tiramisu. If planning a visit... More

We were four couples traveling together and rented four rooms for three nights in September. Every room was very different. Ours opened to the reception hall and had a window into the courtyard, which wasn't all that attractive. (but we had good Wifi as the router is in the reception area. The rooms do not have Wifi.) Some of the... More

The apartment was very big, and the view of the valey filled us with joy and peace. Te castle is very big, so are the gardens. There is a nice swimmingpool, but the water was to cold for me ( we went at the beginning of october). The 2 bedrooms of the aprtment were really big and nice furnished with... More

Sorry it has taken me so long to write this review we traveled to the castle at the end of March and early April. Having traveled in early spring it was still very cool at night and early in the morning, when we inquired about heat in our 2 bedroom villa we were informed that it would 25 euros per... More

The best location for a memorable Tuscany experience. This is a MUST visit location for anyone looking for an Italian immersion experience. 1. The castle is extraordinary in its place in Italian history. Art from the Uffizi gallery was stored here during WWII. It was built from 5 distinct homes that were connected together in the 16th century. It hosted... More

This beautiful refurbished castle nestled in the Tuscan hills was an easy 20 minute drive from Florence, and about 45 minutes from Siena. The rooms are actually apartments and are very much self catering. The experience is quite extraordinary and offers fabulous views over the Tuscan hills. A car is necessary but there is a bus service of sorts to... More

A fun place to visit we stayed in a villa on the castle property. Only served dinner we usually are pizza or went out since dinners is served late. A good place to locate centrally in Tuscany and travel around. Take a GPS! The skitters and the curved roads are tricky

My wife and I stayed for a week at the Castello di Montegufoni in May 2013 (not 2014 - I thought we had written a review already, but clearly not!). We had purchased a groupon deal that included airfare and a rental car. The location has advantages/disadvantages: it is located deep in the beautiful country-side, which is great. However, it... What an amazing experience!! Castello di Montegufoni is situated in probably the best viewing area in all of Tuscany. We never got tired of looking over the hills of Tuscany from our terrace. The rooms were authentic to the castle life and comfortable. The staff was very helpful in their directions to local cities and the areas to visit for... More
