Some might call it quaint, I call it run down. We had a large 2 bedroomed suite. Beds were comfortable but not enough blankets. Rooms were cold as there was no heat in April. Asked for it to be turned on we were told to ask the owner!? He lived in Florence. You are advised to bring all necessary food... More

The Castello allowed us to experience Tuscany and its beauty up close and personal. The owners managed to balance modern amenities with the ancient castle, and the harmony works for anyone willing to forego the dullness of today's modern hotel stay. Yes, it is very chilly inside those thick stone walls of the castle, but we slept in two sets... More

Just returned from a week stay at the castle. We found our 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage to be wonderful. Everything was very clean & comfortable. The castle and grounds are like stepping back into another time. Don't expect daily maid service and amenities like some hotels, but if you want a tranquil, relaxing place with beautiful views and close... More

Did this trip last year with 3 friends! Had the best time of my life!! We explored the castle, grounds, town and even took the horse ride from a local man with horse drawn wagon, and interpreter, from our castle to another – which was so relaxing! Then off on our own adventures! We visited Florence, Pisa, Livornio, Cinque Terra,... More

Stayed on the property for 1 week. Had wondered what we were in for since some reviews had been somewhat negative. We had a wonderful experience! Our cottage was 2 bedroom, 1 bath, small kitchen and sitting room. The grounds are absolutely stunning and the castle is well maintained. The local bus to Florence and surrounding towns literally stops for... More

If you're looking for the Ritz Carlton, this isn't it. It's a historical castle. The rooms are more rustic than luxurious. Nevertheless, the castle and the grounds are breathtakingly beautiful. It needs to be bought out by a high end boutique hotel chain and refurbished....there's a great deal of old crap that needs to just be thrown out. Hopefully someone... More

The castle and the grounds and the surrounding country side is very beautiful. We stayed in one of the apartments on the grounds and the hot water tank was too small and not working right. But most places to stay in Italy are somewhat quirky. Lots of history in the area. Amazing views of the country side. Do research before... More

The grounds, the family, staff and the service for a destination wedding was incredible. The castle has amazing features to offer. We hosted a 4 day destination wedding celebration where the 120 guests stayed in all areas of the castle and villas and I couldn't have been any happier as a bride. The castle helped as wedding planner and hosted... More

We stayed at one of the apartments of castello di Montegufoni for a week with a group of nine (three kids, four adults). The location is almost perfect. Clean, nice surroundings, very well renovated apartments. It is possible to eat at the castle, but wear long sleeves and pants (bugs). The bugs are also hard to keep out of the... More

The wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Castle of Montegufoni during April 2013. Sunny or only partly cloudy every day of seven, we loved our accommodations, the services, and slow walks about the historic castle and grounds. Our spacious apartment on the west side under the roof was cool but dry with a fully functioning kitchen, dining... More
