Enjoyed an authentic caste experience. Castello Montegufoni îs a 12th century castle with several room suites with kitchen facilities. Visitors should know there are lots of stairs and no elevators. But the beautiful grounds and the fabulous Tuscan countryside surrounding it more than make up for any lack of amenities.

My husband, my mother and our niece spent 5 magical days at the Castello di Montegufoni in early May. It had been recommended by a colleague and did not disappoint. Due to our family configuration, we elected to stay in one of the cottages. It was perfect for us. There were no stairs to climb for my mother or my... More

We enjoyed our stay at Montegufoni castle. It has a nice restaurant where my daughter and I did a cooking class (4 courses of Tuscan food for 25 Euro). The staff are friendly and helpful and speak English. This is not a luxury hotel, so if you consider the following things before you stay, you will be prepared! If it... More

Wondetful castle. We stayed in Belle Vista (2 people) and it truly had an amazing view. The other side of the castle was blocked in by trees. It is difficult tovdrive in this area but bus stop is close (by car). The kitchen was so useful we cooked in a lot. The only downside there is no night staff. There... More

We stayed at Castello di Montegufoni for 6 nights, the third week in April. After an overnight flight we rented a car in Rome and drove following directions from the Castello. Our biggest problems were probably being tired from the overnight flight, dealing with traffic around Rome and Florence, and normal difficulty of interpreting signs in a new country. But... More

We arrived at the Castello di Montegufoni late in the afternoon of April 6th after a long 14 hour flight from Reno, Nevada. Arriving in Rome we picked-up our rental car and drove for about 3 1/2 hours to reach the castle. By the grace of GPS..... we found the castle before dark. GPS is a MUST for driving in... More

The good: The castle and grounds were beautiful. The restaurant and food were awesome. The personnel were friendly. The countryside and nearby villages were gorgeous. The bad: because of bad hips and knees, I requested a first floor room and gave them notice (via two E-mails) two months in advance. I also researched the rooms and gave seven different room... We knew visiting in March could be chilly, it was some days, rainy too. But we had lived in Northern Italy 40 years ago for 18 months while working for Uncle Sam and were delighted to be back. The Castello was home base as we (4 of us) visited Pisa, Lucca, Venice, Seina, Florence, San Gimignano and Monteriggione. The last... More

Our trip to the Tuscany area was complete with our stay at the castle. Although our room was not located in the actual castle, we were given an efficiency with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which was exactly what we wanted since we traveled with another couple!! The grounds were beautiful and the staff was very accommodating. I highly recommend... More

I will start my review by saying this is a castle it isn't a disney attraction! so it doesn't have all the hotel extra extras so firstly I don't think it should be called a hotel it's a castle where you can stay. We love this castle we stayed here 10 years ago for our honeymoon and came back this... More
