We arrived in Tuscany just as the low season arrived and we had the castle to ourselves. While it is possible to get here from Florence by bus, our travel agent recommended that we take a hire car to ensure that we could get around the countryside. It was a good tip as the restaurant was closed (except for the... More

This is a fantastic castle located around half an hour from Florence, the decor is fantastic and the scenery around the area is beautiful. The only problem that may arise is having to carry suitcases up a steep gravel road and possibly stairs if you have a high room, otherwise the stay was great.

We stayed in unit 1B which was big enough for 8 and had a large kitchen/living room with a fireplace. (that is important in November in Tuscany). We arrived late and the caretaker waited for us. Our unit was not part of the actual castle which bummed out the kids as they wanted to stay in a real castle. The... More

Booked as a last minute family holiday, we decided to stay in rural Tuscany, rather than the hustle and bustle of Florence or Pisa. Trivago found the Castello Di Montegufoni (Castle of Montegufoni to you and i...) We flew into Pisa and collected our car and drove the 70km (50mins appx.) to the castle where we were warmly greeted by... More

We spent only 2 nights but would have liked to stay longer. What a great experience! Room Montegufoni 29 was huge with a perfect balcony overlooking the countryside. Be prepared to walk up stairs. After driving from Florence; the first thing we did was grab a bottle of wine and headed to the pool. The grounds are beautiful. The employees... More

This place has all the charm you would expect from an 11th century castle. The convenience of this place was great to do many day trips and go into Florence. This place exceeded our expectations. Having bought this trip on Groupon we were not sure what to expect and were delighted to learn the history of the place. We had... More

We were offered an apartment at Montegufoni as the place we had booked was not acceptable. So it was a surprise to find ourselves in a real castle. The kids enjoyed the special atmosphere, playing in the gardens and off course the swimming pool. (Note: our actual visit was in May 2002. We re-visited in June 2015)

We (2 adults & 2 17yr old boys) from 12-19 August and stayed in the 2 bed cottage in the grounds. Actually its' in the middle of the car park! This was the only thing that detected from a fantastic stay and in hindsight i wished we had booked one of the apartments which are either in the main castle... More

I recently visited with a large group of friends and a couple that celebrated their 10 year anniversary by renewing their vows. They accommodated all 16 of us by giving us an entire wing of the castle and treated us like kings and queens. The food at the castle is delicious and many nights, we chose to eat there over... My wife and two teenaged boys stayed here for four nights in apartment 19 in early July 2015. The apartment accommodated 8, but the rest of our party could not come, so it was all to ourselves. We found the grounds and vistas absolutely breathtaking. Everything from the thousand year old floors, to the huge iron clad doors to the... More
