We just returned from a five-day visit to Los Angeles, and stayed at the Sunset Tower Hotel. This is an outstanding 5 star property, with very comfortable accommodations, excellent service, and spectacular views of the Hollywood Hills and downtown Los Angeles in the distance. If only the walls could talk at this historic property. All the famous Hollywood celebrities both... More

We stayed already sevral times at the Sunset Tower Hotel and this was properly our best stay. The staff of the Hotel is always so friendly and helpfull (this maybe overshines even the beautiful building with his history and the perfect location) cause today a real personal and great service is hard to find in West Hollywood. It starts already... More

If you don't know the name John Wayne, or Ava Gardner, or Frank Sinatra, or care where they once lived, you probably do not want to pay $100-$200 a night extra for a room in a hotel with this history. I learned that John Wayne kept a cow in his apartment at what became the Sunset Tower hotel. Legend has... More

I was looking for a chic but not obnoxiously trendy or clubby hotel in LA. Small, cozy, elegant with jewel box of a room with impeccable art deco style furniture and a stunning view. Amazing breakfast. Famous models etc by pool. A perfect choice for parents traveling with teens or twenty-somethings because it's the perfect blend of understated glamour and... More

I do quite a bit of travelling for work and for pleasure, but have never taken the time to set up a Trip Advisor account. After my stay at the Sunset Tower Hotel, I decided that I had to sign up, just to give this hotel all the praise that it deserved. That's how great this hotel is. Before my... More

Of all the West Hollywood Hotels we have stayed in recent years, this one really stood out. Even though we were traveling with our children to tour colleges in the greater Los Angeles Area, we asked our travel agent to recommend a "boutiquee" but comfortable hotel. For the family, we received a wonderful spacious suite. The beds were very comfortable,... More

All the staff members I came in contact with from check in to check out were very friendly and helpful. Everyone greeted me with a smile and helped me with whatever I needed. The room was very comfortable and relaxing (and I enjoyed all the pictures from old Hollywood movies). My breakfasts were delicious both mornings I was there and... More

Our most recent stay (March 2015) was our second. The entire staff was personable and professional in their every attempt be make our stay a pleasant one. The hotel has an old hollywood feel to it (art deco era) both inside and out but with all the modern day amenities. It faces the West Hollywood Hills, and from the pool... More

Each month I travel to Los Angeles for business for at least 9-10 days per month. Each time I stay at the Sunset Tower. I feel like I come home to a family. The staff is amazing, the rooms are incredible, and the vibe is so beautiful. It has this incredible touch of elegance and class - and the true... More

This historic but beautifully reappointed hotel is a wonderful oasis with a central LA location. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. We had a junior suite that was spacious and newly redecorated. (It even had fast wifi!). The hotel itself is so attractive-- the pool is a gem with a 5 star view, the terrace is the perfect... More

Staying in West Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
West Hollywood
For years, West Hollywood has been known as a hub for the LGBT communities in Los Angeles. Today it still maintains the title, but has also become the “it” neighborhood for the entertainment industry’s up-and-comers. Producers, directors, writers and aspiring actors call this area home. Known for great boutique shopping, vintage clothing stores, home décor shops and fitness studios, West Hollywood is a grid of wide boulevards and narrow residential streets. The neighborhood also has a concentration of the most avant-garde restaurants in Los Angeles (rivaled only by the burgeoning restaurant scene Downtown). A trip to the iconic Sunset Strip, with its many clubs, music venues, hotels and flashing lights won’t be forgotten.
