Sadly this pleasant B&B really ripped us off. When we presented our VISA card, the owner returned saying that her machine was broken, so we paid by check. To our surprise the charge showed up on our bill. Numerous attempts to contact the owner with copies available of the cancelled check and the VISA bill resulted in no satisfaction: letters... more

B&B's seem to attract various folks, with varying tastes, which might be the reason for the surprisingly amazing reviews we noticed. We stayed here for one night, and I think for any room over $150, we should get a very nice room and bathroom, with excellent service (particularly in the central valley). The B&B is average for a high price.... more

Ben Maddox House is a charming Victorian very close to Visalia's revitalized downtown. The neighborhood is an old one with some well-kept homes but just as many run-down ones. There was nothing bad about my stay - the service was warm, the breakfast delicious, the rooms charming enough. But the place felt dusty with cobwebs on the shutters. Even though... more

In searching for a unique venue for a small wedding I found the Ben Maddox House on the web. It was perfect in every way. Lucy was warm, welcoming and met my every request above and beyond. In catering our wedding her suggestions and service were wonderful! Not only was the food excellent and plentiful our guests were delighted. The... more

Great B&B with a very hospitable owner. When we were delayed on our drive into town, Lucy went to the internet to try to find us a place for dinner on the road! One there we were greeted with a very nice bottle of wine and very nice room. The highlight was the great breakfast, which you get to choose... more

A charming inn for a family stay. Lucy, the innkeeper, was warm and generous and prepared a lovely meal. She is also introduced us to the local cheeses and wines, which were very good. Thank you for helping to make our stay in Visalia special! more

Fabulous bed and breakfast. We stayed New Years Eve night. Lucy was a great hostess and the b&b was very clean and cozy. We felt right at home. We booked through expedia, but Lucy said she has been having problems with reservations through them- our reservation never came though. We were lucky that she still had a room available. You... more

On Oct. 17 & 18, 2008, during a mini-vacation to the Sequoia foothills, my wife and I found a Bed & Breakfast jewel at Ben Maddox House B&B in Visalia, CA. The historical Victorian house is perfect as a B&B. We stayed in the Ben Maddox room which was very clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet, and we got... more

We stayed for 2 nights with Lucy & her assistant. They both went out of ther way to make us welcome. Cheese platter & wine in the evenings was delicious. Lucy even managed to find a red wine I liked! They are so knowledgeable about the area & packed us off the the Sequoia National Park with muffins, water, dried... more

We just completed a 3 night stay at the Ben Maddox House. There are some great things going on there, but some improvement is needed. Lucy, the innkeeper, is a lovely woman who goes out of her way to please. The breakfasts were scrumptious, as were the nightly wine and cheeses. She provided lots of extras for our picnic in... more
