I stayed here for 1 night in May. well, this is an outdated facility, but they were rennovating the last floor. The place is well kept. My room was clean, and had a nice view to the woods. The breakfast was fine. The only problem I had was the price I paid . Well, it's Tahoe area and everything is... more

I planned a trip to visit my friend in Donner area for his birthday. I was traveling with my family. It was going to be a Fri-Sat-Sun thing, so we made the Advanced Guaranteed Reservations. These are completely non-refundable for ANY reason, but on the other hand, they guarantee your room "regardless of the time of your arrival." We were... more

This is a nice hotel for skiing at Sugar Bowl, located about 15 minutes away. They also sell discount tickets to the local ski resorts .... and the tickets for Sugar Bowl include their 2009 weekday special of free lesson and rental with lift ticket. Many motels catering to skiiers get absolutely abused by the weather and snow and equipment.... more

This was an average economy hotel. Our room reeked of air freshener but was pretty big. There aren't a lot of restaurants within walking distance. It was fine for an overnight. more

The Holiday Inn Express Truckee is your typical HI Express. it is located adjacent to the Donner lake state park in the North Tahoe region. the hotel was clean and the staff was nice. there was a problem with the power for the breakfast area, the circuit breaker triped a couple of times during the week. more

During my snowboarding trips to Northstar, Sugar Bowl, and Squaw Valley, I've stayed at the Best Western, Hampton Inn, and HI Express. They're all pretty similar, but I like the HI Express the best. First, I usually find that the HI Express is the cheapest of the three. The rooms at the HI Express are much larger than the ones... more

We stayed here for 4 nights. It was a very nice, quiet, clean and comfortable room. The breakfast was pretty good too. It was located relatively close to Royal Gorge where we xc skied. Also, it is about a half hour from north Lake Tahoe. My only minor complaints were a couple of the people who work there were not... more

We decided to go up to Boreal to ski and found the HIE in the area. With a wife and two kids(8/10), the one advantage is that they usually take 4 to a room. Expensive at $194 but 1 room instead of two. Excellent easy access from the highway; great in the middle of a blizzard. Entrance needs a double... more

A good stay for the night, with the room pretty clean, and a good size. Nothing great, but also nothing bad, so I think this place would be a good stay if you were going to Tahoe and did not mind a little drive down to the lake, or the mountains. more

On fairly short notice, we decided to ski after the first really big storm in Tahoe - just befor Xmas. We wanted to try some of the smaller ski areas this time. We chose Truckee as our base. Given that our trip was a week and a half away and it would be during the Christmas holiday we were pretty... more
