Elk country was one of our favorite stays on a multi city camping trip. We are two adults with 4 young children. We stayed in the Meadow area and would absolutely stay here again if we came back this way. The ability to have full hook ups for our RV just outside the National/state park was awesome! All the staff we interacted with were pleasant and professional. We had a great time meeting fellow campers at the park and getting to know them. We also were fortunate to be able to see the herd of elk on multiple occasions. The showers here are coin operated as is the laundry facility so make sure you have plenty of quarters if you plan to use those amenities. As of the time of this review, the free Wi-Fi caps out at 30 mins a day but they have reasonably priced plans if you want to purchase additional time. There is a small grocery store in Trinidad about 15 mins away (close to a great but also small pizza place), camp store has limited items. Closest gas was also in Trinidad before heading into the park. Meadow Sites were large and grassy, forest sites we saw were beautiful. Overall would happily stay here again, would just be prepared to bring more quarters. Camp store did have bags of quarters available to purchase. …

Purchased sites and was charged higher when we arrived. Said there was Wifi-couldn't get any. The store isn't open long enough during the day, considering how far away everything is. You had to PAY to take a shower, you would think at the price they charge you could get a shower. The campsite and bathrooms were clean, seeing the elk was cool.

We loved this campground. We stayed in a pull through site in the meadow. We saw elk every day. The owner of the campground went out of her way to help us when we got locked out of our trailer on a Friday evening. She called out an SOS o locksmiths and helped get one there within two hours. The restrooms and whole park are well-kept. Highly recommend.

I have read all the reviews from previous reviews and have never stayed at this campground until Oct 2022. We have a 5th wheel, and the camping area under the trees was closed (with good reason-it was too wet). We got a site with a little distance from other campers, which was nice. The staff was exceptionally nice!!!! It might be under new management. We were surprised by a large herd of elk on the morning that we were leaving. We counted almost 60 elk and 15 were large bucks. They actually made their way right into our site and made themselves at home. We even went outside and they still hung around. Although we have see Roosevelt elk many times, it was really nice to see the yearlings hanging out together with the fawns being completely surrounded by the bucks and does. They aren't always around, but you won't forget it, if they are!!…

This place was a perfect location for our needs. We wanted to explore the Redwoods and the nearby beaches, which this site was well suited. It wasn't a long drive to any of those. The campsite itself was beautiful, green, a gorgeous pond, elk, lush tropical feel; did the job. Also, if you're a pokemon player, there is a gym and multiple stops here. However, there are definitely complaints. The staff is... something special. We're gonna go with that. We reserved back in April/earlyMay time-frame for a trip in June. Got there and they charged us additional money cause "rates had changed since we book" and the reason is "it's in the contract". Okay. It was only $15 so not the end of the world but irritating since we booked it a month earlier. A staff member made it clear she didn't like us and tried to terrify us with tales of elk attacks the previous day (claimed 4 women were charged and 1 was hospitalized) up by the pond and yet no one else mentioned it nor was there any indication anyone was injured. Just warnings to stay away from them, which made sense given they were calfing (and you know, wild animals). Then facilities: They charge you a quarter for each minute of the showers, but the showers were gross to be charged a $1.50 for six minutes. First-time ever I was antsy about taking off my shower shoes. The camp's advertised as having wi-fi but that really means if you're within about 20 feet of the front office. Not a big deal though cause it was kinda nice to unplug. The water was shut off for over a day, no explanation as to why and though we were charged extra for rates being changed, there was no inconvenience refund or even an acknowledgment of issues other than don't use the water. Also, side note, mainly because of the campers beside us trying so hard, if you have wet towels, they will not dry if you're not in the sun. It's definitely a humid environment so be prepared. Absolutely beautiful, but the staff nickeling and diming you while making it clear their dislike is the hit here.…

To be honest, I almost didn’t tent camp here based on bad reviews but everything else was full so we gave it a try. The only negative I can say is it’s a shame you have to pay for showers. The bathroom was nice and large with soap and plenty of room and counter space for a sink bath. Fortunately when we were there it was blackberry season and they were everywhere. And they were delicious! The tent sites were by themselves and private. And it seemed each site had its own water and of course picnic table and fire ring. And to top it off we were close to the National Park. Glad we stayed.

I booked this campsite on July 19, 2021 for a stay on August 6-8 two nights. Later, I need to change my trip plan, so have to cancel this reservation. I was charged total amount of this reservation of two days stay: $77.52. I tried all different ways to reach the owner and want to cancel my reservation starting July 21 through July 24. I called and left messages, indicated that I need to cancel this reservation, yet, didn't get any response. I emailed them on July 24 indicating that I need to cancel this reservation, still I didn't get any response. No refund either even up to now. This site is so irresponsible and so untreatable. How can anyone trust this kind of service. $77.52 is not a lot of money, however, what you lose is the trust and reputation of your service! It is so rare have a company like this!!! Never again ELK Country RV Resort and Campground.…

I don’t think I would stay here again but it did the trick for the couple of days we were there. There are essentially three camping areas (four if you include the cabins). Tent camping and RV spots in a tree covered area or in an open field. If you have a big rig and aren’t super comfortable with tight spaces you should probably ask to be in the big field. The sites are not that will maintained. The leg of our picnic table fell off (thankfully no one was sitting on it). There is no cellular coverage in this area. They report they have WiFi but it doesn’t work. Staff at the office were not that friendly or helpful. It was cool to see the Elk in the open field and like I said it was centrally located to explore the area which was the entire purpose of our trip.

We arrived at Elk Country RV Resort early afternoon on Saturday, September 5th, 2020 with reservations made until the 8th (Labor Day weekend). Our RV site (#2) was a nice wooded pull-through (in the Forest section) just steps away from the office. The campground looked nice and we were excited while setting up our travel trailer. Unfortunately our immediate neighbors in site #3 were a loud, heavy drinking, middle age couple sitting outside their travel trailer that grew louder as the evening progressed until well past midnight and then resumed their thoughtless behavior early the next morning before 7am. The Forest section was mostly full with many other large groups of campers that were also quite noisy late into the night. I also heard other angry campers shouting for the noise to stop, usually just getting a temporary reprieve. I spoke to the manager the next morning, requesting a move to a quieter site in the Meadow section. Surprisingly she seemed more intent on defending the loud behavior, explaining it away as Labor Day return campers just having a good time. The manager did not offer a site switch or a solution, so after that one horrible night we left Elk Country RV Resort and found a very nice campground in nearby Crescent City. It was also interesting that our other neighbors in site #1 (a nice family with kids) actually offered their sympathy as we broke camp that morning, saying the site #3 people were also that loud the night before our arrival. The physical campground itself was okay. The concern & actions of their on-site management staff was not. Our worst camping experience in three years of extended cross country road trips.…

This is a great location to get to the parks and the beach is across the street. You can also walk out the front door to look at Elk a lot of the time. We (5 adults) stayed in the tiny house and I couldn't find much information about the actual tiny house. We were doing a road trip in a van so didn't have a camper and thought this would be a good option. The staff was very nice and communicated well with me since we were going to be in late. They made sure we had all the towels and sheets we needed. It was tight but we didn't spend a lot of time there for it to be an issue for us. There is 1 bedroom with a queen size bed, a loft with a comfortable queen size air mattress, and a pull out couch. The TV had cable and we used the kitchen a lot. It had 1 bathroom but the guys would use the campground bathrooms a lot. There are hiking trails we explored with beautiful scenery. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. I'm giving it a 4 for a couple reasons. There was a lot of mouse poop in the loft on the ledge of the windows. We brought this to the staff's attention and they immediately took care of it. There was a critter/mouse that was super loud we would hear a lot through the night that would keep us awake which you have to expect a little since you are in a campground in the middle of nature. The last thing was while we were packing the last day I was checking for any items that may have gone under the bed and what I pulled out was an earlier guest's, dirty, netted, underwear. Very unpleasant. Overall we really enjoyed staying here and would recommend staying here.…
