We thought we would try Cynthia's and were not disappointed. We loved the tipi's - ours was amazingly warm on a cold winter night. I don't think Cynthia's is for everyone, you must be a little adventurous, one woman had a great fear of the coyotes. You hear and see them, but they leave you completely alone. If you want... More

What can I say about staying in a tipi, other than it was an AWESOME EXPERIENCE! Husband & I visited Cynthia's for 2 nights and we were the only ones there (note that the tipis are located about 3 miles from the main hostel itself) so laying out under a canopy of stars on chase lounges while eating cheese/drinking wine... I found this desert hostel quite adequate. The rooms in the trailer were very clean and their appointments were very restful. The bunks could stand an addition of memory foam on the mattresses as mine was pretty hard - normal however for most bunkbeds. There are several trailers on the property which are either hostel rooms, or private rooms. There... More

We stayed one night in a teepee tent in the China Ranch date farm. It was just 3 of us and we had the whole wonderfull and rustic farm house for ourselves. The expierence of the desert night in oasis is magic and worth the price. Cynthia's breakfast was more than excellent, beautifully prepared and filling. We will be back... More

We stay at Cynthia's every year after our trade show in Las Vegas. It only takes about an hour and a half to drive from there. We usually stay in one of the trailers up on the mesa. The rooms are nicely appointed, and you can use the hostel trailer kitchen. Cynthia is always improving things. This time we stayed... More

We stayed in the gypsy room and disappointed, the bed not comfortable, the room is converted from a trailer so the bathroom is low quality, we expected to have outdoor grill but the griller was too dirty to use. No one clear the garbage bins in the common kitchen, it was stinky.

We stayed one night at Cynthia's B&B-in the hostel, the 'Sunset' room. I booked on line- $90 plus tax for one night for the 3 of us. It's not flash or at all fancy & facilities are minimal, but the place has a rustic charm all of it's own and allowed us the opportunity to experience the magic of the... More

Can be hard to find, is about a mile east of the Tecopa road junction. There are three grades of accommodation - hostel rooms, guest rooms and Tipi. The quirky offbeat nature of Cynthia's fits exactly with the desert town in which it is located. Don't come here if you expect an 'international hotel', this is just about as far... More

I am in Guernsey/UK but visit this region every 18 months or so and adore the Tecopa area. I might visit Death Valley 'central' for a day or so but Tecopa is my base. Cynthia is a wonderful warm person and host, offering both Hostel and Tipi. Choice should depend on your budget and/or the experience however everything is terrific.... More

Where else can you sleep in a luxurious bed with comply off white linens in a tipi with coyotes barking, frogs ribbeting, and stars that are so bright. Cynthia herself is a happy desert rat. We sat outside our tipi and drank wine and watched the stars come out overlooking the date grove and nearby hill. We saw satellites, shooting... More
