We were just looking for a place to stay for one night. Did not have a reservation. Decided we would take a chance here. Nothing special from the outside and it was inexpensive so I didn't expect much. However, we were pleased with the accomodations. Everything was clean and it had a great shower. We ended up staying an extra... more

This motel had everything we needed and the room was absolutely spotless. Yes, the furniture is outdated and yes the walls are off-white, not "sienna" or "mustard" like some fancy yuppy lodge, but the carpet looked fairly new and the bathroom was super clean. We stayed on the upper row at the back of the property and the view of... more

I paid $135/night for a summer weekend. That's more than double what other reviewers have paid. I'm wondering what's going on. Yes, the guy who runs the place is friendly and helpful. But aside from a good bed, a working refrigerator and a little microwave, and proximity to the lake (across the highway), I found little to like about this... more

We wanted to visit Lake Tahoe but had not booked accommodation in advance. We started our search in South Lake Tahoe but the place was too busy and congested for our liking, so we drove north and stopped at Tahoe City. This seemed more suited to our tastes. We had found the names of several hotels or motels, with reasonable... more

As I have said before, it is important to rate hotels based on their market. Comparing this property to the Ritz Carlton will invariably leave you with a weak rating; however, if you compare it with other inexpensive motels you can get a solid evaluation. The Lake of the Sky has positives and some negatives. The positives are the fact... more

We stayed at the Lake of the Sky Motor Inn for one night. The owner stayed up late to accomodate our arrival and greeted us cheerfully. The next morning, he addressed us by name when we came in for the simple continental breakfast. He made us feel like welcome friends. We liked the room which had two queen beds and... more

We rented two rooms on Sat, Apr 29, Rooms 122 and 123 for $69/room. They had a door in between which was very convenient for us because we were six of us, 3 adults and 3 kids. The rooms had a king bed with two night stands. There was also a table with 2 chairs. There was a TV and... more

We stayed at the Lake of the Sky Inn as part of our honeymoon, travelling across California for 3 weeks, in September. We stayed for 2 nights & Randy, the owner, was absolutely lovely, helpful and friendly. The great continental breakfast far surpassed many of the dreadful offerings we experienced in California: the Lake of the Sky offered bagels, PB... more

We spent 2 nights here in mid-September and found it a great spot for the price ($62 for a king bed room). Our room was at the back end of the L-shaped building and so a distance from the road, and quiet. Bed very comfortable, bathroom a little small but nothing difficult. There's a little deck near the pool where... more

We stayed at the Lake of the Sky Motor Inn for just 1 night and found it to be great for $66 a night. The rooms are very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The rooms seem like they are probably being updated gradually. The location was great, a McDonalds across the road, together with a Chinese restaurant which... more
