We just had our daughters wedding in Tahoe and the bridal party stayed here! Perfect location for a large group, fire pits and horse shoes made for some fun during the days and nights! Very affordable old rustic Tahoe rooms! They were so nice to us let us use their hand cart for wedding to move stuff! Rooms are dated... More

We are not fancy folk, and can generally appreciate a little "rustic charm" in our hotel choices. But I don't think we will return to the Tamarack lodge. My main disappointment was with the cleanliness (or lack thereof). The maid did not bring his/her A-game when they cleaned our room. There was a dirty sock left on the floor from... More

We apologize for the deficiencies you encountered during your recent stay at Tamarack. Unfortunately, your visit coincided with the loss of one of our housekeepers, and our remaining staff was temporarily too busy to recheck all of the rooms before arrival. We have since hired new staff. At the same time, we are pleased that this did not prevent you... More

We are not the kind of people that need a lot of luxury, so we chose this small family run hotel just North of Tahoe City. The rooms were basic but clean and best of all had a little kitchenette for cooking. We brought way too much food with us, we had visions of cooking a full four course dinner,... More

I have stayed in Tamarack lodge many times on ski trips, and although it isn't at all luxurious it is very practical. The rooms aren't cramped or especially large, the beds and bathrooms are fine, and every room comes equipped with hot chocolate, coffee, and a TV. If you want to have more people there are bigger rooms with kitchens... More

We were actually headed to the Tahoma Lodge, but had to stay for a night here, because we couldn't get a room there for the night. The Tamarack is a clean place, and a decent place for a night's sleep. It is close to the restaurants and shops near the north lake blvd.

The Tamarack Lodge was a great place to stay, great location and family run. The sweet family that owns this lodge were truly accommodating during our stay, by upgrading us to the sweet cottage for a great value, building fires for us, making reservations for dinner and just generally making our stay comfortable. Would definitely stay again!

I don't know what the previous people were thinking when they gave this place more than a 1 star rating. The building is something out of a horror show, you walk up to check in and there are kids toys spread all over the side walk, office is part of someone's kitchen where the owners were eating dinner. And talk... More

I've already seen this exact review elsewhere on the internet, so like the reviewer, I'll cut and paste. The Tamarack Lodge is neither “disgusting” nor “nasty”. Nothing is “lurking in the dark”. It is an older place, and since family once again took over management four years ago, we've been making steady improvements. Yes, our carpet has some stains and... More

We stayed there for 2 nights in late July. It's about a mile outside of Tahoe City. You have to cross a highway (not comfortable but it can be done) to get to a bike path which runs for miles on both directions, a nice walk into Tahoe City. The accommodations are simple and on the older side. There are... More

Been going to Tahoe since I was born and stayed in a variety of motels, lodges, and hotels. For the price, the Tamarack Lodge was by far the most enjoyable stay. The family who ran the lodge was polite and friendly. I had booked a "poker" room for my girlfriend and I, but when we checked in, we were offered... More

The very rude lady at Mother Nature's Inn gave away our room and was extremely unhelpful about it. Thankfully the very nice lady here was extremely helpful. We stayed in a private cabin with our own porch. Wonderful woods setting and very clean room.
