Stayed one night just after Christmas. Yes, the hotel is a bit older, but that doesn't bother me so long as it's clean. I was a little worried about staying having read some prior posts about cleanliness. However, I found my room to be quite clean, even free from dust, which seems to be overlooked in many hotels. The only... More

We made these arrangements late for Christmas time frame around the Lake Tahoe area. What a great surprise this find was. Family of 5 adults - we had to book a room with double for the girls and a poker room with cot for the boys because of our late plans but they have large cabins that are cute as... More

Just had a very nice visit to Tahoe City and stayed at Tamarack Lodge. Family owned quaint cabin style hotel in the woods! Fully stocked if you want to stay in or just minutes to Kings Beach and about 20 minutes to Truckee. I will choose to stay here again!

Small family owned lodge (4 generations ! ) 1 mile outside the bustle of Tahoe City with friendly owners and dog who visited the cabin porch every morning. We stayed in one of the cabins instead of a lodge room, with fully equipped kitchen, fridge etc and tv/wireless. Burton Creek State Park hiking trails literally right outside the door. Gerard... Needed inexpensive room for Friday night, couldn't find any. Called Tamarack late about 10pm, Gerard answered and he was very courteous & helpful. We booked a deluxe cabin. Nice atmosphere, removed from the busy road, rustic, quaint. Nice and clean. Towels luxurious, not cheap. Warm (gas) 'wood-stove' with flames visible through front glass - cozy. Coming into check-in was like... More

Thanks for taking the time to write this review. We appreciate the honest picture you have painted of our place. I do want to clarify a couple of things about our breakfast. First, it is the chocolate we import from France for the chocolate almond spread, not the almonds. Second, for those who don't want to put their bagels into... More

Ok, so I'll admit that based off of reviews that I read, my expectations for Tamarack were low. I'm happy to report that we actually had a fantastic experience. Upon arrival, our host was arm wrestling with his young son. It was hard to interrupt this kind on fun interaction, but he switched gears into lodge owner in a drop... More

It is nice to read that you had a fantastic experience here at Tamarack, especially considering that your cabin was having some pilot light issues during your visit. We were sorry not to be able to light the gas log fireplace for you. After your departure, I took apart the igniter and found that it was cracked, hence non-functional. Replaced,... More

I called around last minute(8:00pm) on Sunday 9/6 which just happened to be Labor Day weekend. No surprise EVERYwhere I called was full. All places, high end, inexpensive, everything was booked full!! I easily called 30 places. I was beginning to think I might have to cat nap in the car a few hours, and keep driving to make my... We just had our daughters wedding in Tahoe and the bridal party stayed here! Perfect location for a large group, fire pits and horse shoes made for some fun during the days and nights! Very affordable old rustic Tahoe rooms! They were so nice to us let us use their hand cart for wedding to move stuff! Rooms are dated... More

We are not fancy folk, and can generally appreciate a little "rustic charm" in our hotel choices. But I don't think we will return to the Tamarack lodge. My main disappointment was with the cleanliness (or lack thereof). The maid did not bring his/her A-game when they cleaned our room. There was a dirty sock left on the floor from... More

We apologize for the deficiencies you encountered during your recent stay at Tamarack. Unfortunately, your visit coincided with the loss of one of our housekeepers, and our remaining staff was temporarily too busy to recheck all of the rooms before arrival. We have since hired new staff. At the same time, we are pleased that this did not prevent you... More

We are not the kind of people that need a lot of luxury, so we chose this small family run hotel just North of Tahoe City. The rooms were basic but clean and best of all had a little kitchenette for cooking. We brought way too much food with us, we had visions of cooking a full four course dinner,... More
