This is my second stay at The Domain on business trips. I came back because they have some great amenities. The pluses: they have sleep number beds. They have a great little bar that serves nice, generous glasses of wine. Their pizza is awesome too! I had a couple of minor minuses on this trip: my room's a/c unit was... more

Great customer service started as soon as I called the hotel to book a room and was offered the "best rate" and continued until after I returned home and received a gracious email regarding my stay. A Joie de Vivre Hotel, I joined their Joy of Life Club and was welcomed with a personal note and a bottle of wine.... more

Several people described The Domain's unusual design, decor and feel as kind of a "feng shui" thing. I don't think it would pass the official feng shui muster, but from the moment you step through the front door, the hotel presented an atmosphere that was both intriguing and welcoming. The square building had many linear elements softened textured tapestries that... more

Got lots of "thinking" work done in room due to good: quiet character; desk space; internet access; comfortable furniture; tasteful, minimal, and refreshing interior design; early breakfast buffet; pleasant walking distance to grocery store, Afghani House restaurant with ***** lamb dishes, large variety of simple restaurants; bus to Stanford; close to airport. Loved the lobby water decor and wooden accents. more

I was there for a small conference, but I would happily go back on a business trip. The hotel's exterior is unprepossessing, and the main sign is too low-key to be spotted from the street except when it's lit up at night, but inside, this is one of the most functional hotels I've ever stayed in. The decor is minimalist... more

Stayed at The Domain for Valentine's Day weekend 2009. As soon as you walk in to the lobby - I felt the tranquil atmosphere . The staff was friendly & very accommodating. The room was spacious with comfortable a sleep-number bed and the bathroom was very clean. I usually stay at Marriotts.. but will definitely try another Joie de Vivre... more

Great service from the shuttle drivers - fun people to talk to, very helpful. The front desk staff was good too. This seems to be a common theme with Joie de Vivre hotels - really great customer service. The hotel itself is clean and fine, but nothing to write home about. more

The best way I can think of to rate this hotel is by comparison to its closest peer hotel just down the street, where I stayed last year. Both hotels are modern, efficient and with full amenities. Both have a pool and spa, but those at the peer hotel are located in a central courtyard which protects them from the... more

Just stayed at The Domain for three nights in Oct, 2008. All in all, this was a pleasant stay. The hotel, as others noted, is not remarkable on the outside and the interior is fairly bland. The rooms are spacious with comfortable sleep-number beds (didn't blow me away, but not bad) and the bathroom is well supplied, lit, etc. I... more
