Cute little fake Danish town of Solvang is America' s Disney version of a Scandinavian town. "King Frederik" Inn is a Motel like many others. Nothing particularly Danish about it, except for the name. First floor room was dark and a bit small for a double twin. Funny smell from the pool in the room. Friendly staff and reasonable price... This place is NOT pet friendly. It was as clean as a hotel can get and had plenty of space for our four people. The room was a bit dated and sheets were rough but it was clean. Located in the middle of the town so walking is easy! It will do for a night.

We stayed at the King Frederik for the second time in a year to see one of the great musicals at the Solvang Festival Theater. Last year it was Forever Plaid, this year we saw My Fair Lady, both of which were superb. Nothing quite like sitting under the summer nighttime sky watching great performances. But the walk back at... More

Large, clean rooms with fairly new accouterments. Prices were second only to the Hamlet, and the extra expense was worth it. Very nice pool. Breakfast was pretty weak, however---not much of a problem with two great bakeries and Paula's pancakes within two blocks. My one caveat, there was a lot of road noise in the morning, so if you think... More

We go to Solvang at least twice a year for quick getaways because it is close. We have stayed in the King Frederik several times. It's location is nice, right in the middle of town. There is coffee, tea, and cocoa around the clock. There is toast and Danish pastry in the morning. The pool and whirlpool are very nice,... More

We stayed here for two nights. Loved how close it was to everything. Walked to shops, restaurants and bars. The hotel itself was ok...just ok. The beds were not that comfy and the entire room is old. The staff was nice. We didn't use the pool. Breakfast danishes were complimentary. And the hotel price is reasonable.

I am shocked by the good reviews this hotel is getting. It was based on these reviews that I booked two nights in Mid April 2015. PROS: Strong WiFi, bed was comfortable although a bit soft from age, room was clean and had a microwave and refrigerator. Spa was clean and we used it one night. Good location for walking.... More

We stayed at the King Frederik Inn for one night en route to Oakland, CA, from San Diego. My son-in-law chose the hotel. It is located right in the middle of this charming town. The hotel was clean and provided complimentary continental breakfast. There is a coffee machine in the room (no tea), refrigerator and microwave. It was quiet. There's... More

We stayed at the King Frederik Inn in September for a couple of nights. The Inn is definitely in a good location and we enjoyed being able to just walk everywhere. The room itself, however, was just average. It could definitely use a good update. The exposed pipes in our room made it seem more outdated. The room was clean... More
