Rented house #260 for three nights. Had a great view of the Smith River and ocean. Would recommend bringing a pair of binoculars to view all the wildlife. Lots of seals, pelicans, eagles, and numerous ducks to view laying along the shore of the river. The house was clean and roomy, with comfortable beds. The price in the off season... More

Decided to give the hotel a try. At first it appeared to be a clean room until we inspected the mattress the next morning and found runny brown poop stains on it. Mattress should be thrown out. Bed was very uncomfortable, rooms need serious updating. This place needs Serious WORK

Situated on the famous Smith river mouth and the Pacific ocean, the views are uncanny, teeming with all sorts of birds and wildlife, the motel is dated but very clean and priced right. Newer units are available for a few bucks more, ASK!!! Restaurant is only open for dinner, motel serves light breakfast spread.

We were driving down the coast and were ready to pull in for the night and came across the Ship Ashore. We were pleased at the prices and even more pleased with the room. Clean, comfortable and a great view from the balcony which we got our money's worth. There was a very good restaurant across the parking lot where... More

The scenery and wildlife are beyond compare here. Get an upper floor and enjoy the wildlife on the river/bay and the crashing waves just beyond. We saw seals, otters, blue herons, egrets, grebes, and pelicans. This time of year when the fishermen and tourists aren't around was quiet as can be, except for the crashing waves. The rooms are fine,... More

We have stayed at the Ship Ashore many times. The place is quite run down and requires much upgrading to make it a 5-Star location. But, for a 2 star place, it's great! The rooms have always been clean. We usually get a kitchen unit which is bigger and provides a stove and fridge to cook on. The reason we... More

Stayed there a few years ago very nice people, place needs some work but the rooms were clean and we faced the water. Next to it was the restaurant and very nice and yummy food. The bar had all sorts of bottles they were every one of Jim Beam that they have made very impressive, don't drink it but very... More

My wife and I were passing through the area and wanted to spend one night to utilize the local casino. We were traveling with two small dogs and the nicest place in town, which I think is the Lucky 7 Casino/Resort does not take dogs. We get this a lot so we look further and found the Ship Ashore Resort.... More

3 night stay in #260, a river house. Wet floors/carpet upon arrival. Broken blinds, ripped/missing screens on windows, ants, animal hair on couch, cobwebs in corner of ceiling. My son's feet were BLACK from walking on the carpet without socks on. It has potential if they would clean and fix it up. They also allow dogs in the lobby where... More

We stayed June 7 -10. We loved the wildlife every morning. The rooms were average being the place is older but they were very clean. It's close to the Redwoods and to Brookings Oregon. The price was great and is well worth the stay. We will be back again.
