Not wanting to pay $$$ for a place in Monterey during the 4th of July weekend. I found the Econo Lodge Bay Breeze for the right price. And it turned out to be better than I expected. It is very close to the biking trail that we rode on the 1st day. It is within walking distance to Costco, to... more

We stayed here for one night on our way from LA going to San Francisco. We did not want to spend a lot of money because we were getting in late and leaving early. We had 4 rooms and they were all clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were very clean and looked new. The furniture and colors were a little... more

We stayed here in the handicap room. It is a motor lodge so we were able to park right outside the door to our room which was nice. It is an older hotel. The room was large, carpet old. The bathroom had a very low toilet which was not good for us. It also only had a tub, no roll... more

If you want a clean, simple and comfortable place to sleep in a great location that is close to all of Monterey's attractions for an unbeatable price, your expectations will be met. If you want the best of a world-class resort, buy a lover's package with the champagne and in-house spa. I am a beach lover, not into frills. I... more

This is part of a budget motel chain, adjacent to Monterey Bay. It's at the north end of Fremont St, just before it merges with CA 1, so don't make the mistake I did in trying to check in at the other EconoLodge down the street. After driving up the coast from San Luis Obispo via Big Sur on Hwy.... more

We checked in on 6/18 and checked out on 6/20. Room 229 - this is the first room at the top of the stairs above the hotel office. It was nice, i believe it was the picture on the website. It had a fireplace and refrigerator and a large cabinet area. The room had a funny smell to it, but... more

This place never fails to amaze me. We've stayed there probably a couple dozen times in the past few years including this past weekend. It's reasonable, well located to the highway but not too close, walking distance to Starbucks, Jamba and Papa Chano's, not to mention Costco and a some other shops, you get that nice smell of ocean air... more

Can't help but agree with most of the other reviews on here -you really should know what you're in for when you book a place like this. We wanted somewhere that was cheap and clean and with a TV that worked. The EconoLodge fulfilled our requirements just fine, and with a great free breakfast in the mornings, too. The staff... more

We drove to Monterey from San Francisco on 8/8/06 without any hotel reservations (something we NEVER do). It was getting late and figured we better find a place for the night, but all the hotels in Monterey were AT LEAST $199/night -- MUCH more than I wanted to pay (or could afford). We drove 'next door' through Seaside and saw... more

I chose this Econo Lodge because it was one of the few hotels available on short notice and I needed to escape the searing heat of the San Joaquin Valley. I was pleasantly surprised at finding a nice, no-frills hotel. It is very close to the ocean--no ocean views, though. They keep the hotel clean, the TV has a variety... more
