Stayed for three nights. Noisy air conditioner/air extraction fan all night. Window had to be kept closed and ceiling fan on all night. Front office staff obliging with booking tours. Breakfast was muffins and coffee/tea in the foyer. Excellent location.

This hotel is in a fab location for the beach, shopping and restaurants - it is tired but clean and the staff were incredibly helpful - everyone from reception to cleaners. The breakfast is free and plentiful (coffee, tea, juice, muffins and pastries - great start if you are going to eat a big lunch (all American lunches are big!!!!!!)... More

My 2 girlfriends and I stayed at Hotel Carmel for 4 nights during our travels around LA. We opted for Hotel Carmel as it was cheaper than a lot of the other hotels in the area. The room was small and dark but clean; as was the bathroom. The room didn't have a view but that was okay as we... More

Had a lovely stay here last week. We arrived at 730am after a very long flight from Australia. We couldn't check in to a room because they were full from the night before; however the man organised our room to be cleaned first and it was ready by 1130. We had a king room, the bed was comfortable, the room... More

No where on this hotels website does it state that cigarette smoking is allowed and that non-smoking rooms are non-existent. I checked into my room late evening and the cigarette smell was overwhelming. It even had an ashtray! I immediately called the front desk to ask for a non-smoking room and the manager said he'd call back if he had... More

Sharon05639GM I’m so sorry you were assigned a smoking room and we were unable to relocate you to another guest room. Yes, we do have a smoking floor. Although you are correct that we do not mention on our website that smoking is allowed, we also don’t state that we are a smoke free hotel. Many of our clients are... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here as part of our California trip. We arrived earlier than we were supposed to but were told we could check into a room straight away. In fact we were bumped up to a nicer room than what we had paid for so we were quite happy! The room was kind of worn out, in... More

Priced quite high for something so basic, the hotel is 2 blocks away from the Santa Monica Pier and a block away from Santa Monica Blvd. The rooms are very very small. The breakfast area is just steps away from the reception and choices are very limited. The View from the window is of an Office building. The only thing... More

Hello Radhika, Thanks for staying at Hotel Carmel. I would agree that our rooms are smaller that most chain hotels. However, some of our rooms are bigger than others and the room sizes are subject to the building configuration. From a price standpoint, I respect your opinion but for Santa Monica, we believe we are very reasonably priced. Thanks again... More

This hotel really needs updating, it is very dull and the rooms aren't very welcoming. I was in a room facing the air conditioning outside and it was very loud at night. The most positive thing about the hotel is its central location. I would not stay here again.

Had to be moved on first night due to the vents right outside our window. Rooms are very basic and poor! No breakfdast room just have to eat at reception but the food is that bad that you wont. Housekeepers took our bathroom products on first night and managment could not help with the matter! one positive it is beside... More

Hello Mario, Thank you for staying at Hotel Carmel. I’m sorry we had to relocate you to another room over an issue with the vent. I did want to clarify one point. We don’t offer breakfast. We offer complimentary coffee service with some pastries. You have the option of seating in the lobby, taking something back to your room, or... More

The main advantage of choosing Hotel Carmel, considering the expensive rate is the location close to scenic Santa Monica beach. There is a stop for the 'hop on, hop off' sight-seeing bus and The Third Street Promenade shopping area nearby. I walked to a Saturday morning Farmer's Market on Arizona Avenue. I availed of the complementary coffee and pastries in... More

Thank you for staying with us at Hotel Carmel. We really appreciate the mention of our location. I’m sorry to hear that your first room had some sort of water leak from the air conditioner and you experienced an odor from a bedspread in your second room. Although I don’t have any record of that issue, I hope we corrected... More
