This place needs to be torn down, if it doesn't fall down first. It is close to the beach. So are several homeless shelters. The area in front of the hotel is infested with "hobos, bums and other assorted trolls" The employees are downright RUDE. The place is filthy, smelly and way over-priced for what you get. Don't be fooled... more

My daughter and I stopped here as an over night resting stop on our way home from Las Vegas to the SF Bay Area. This is a quaint small (very small) boutique hotel one block from the Santa Monica Pier/beach, location is everything with this hotel. It is within walking distance to shops, restuarants, the pier. The hotel was advertized... more

I have been roadtripping all across the USA and I decided to make a stop in Santa Monica. I got to the hotel and the staff who checked me in were actually very pleasant and helpful. The location is what makes this hotel worth. Yes, it was'nt the cleanist hotel, but what do you expect for less than 150dollars a... more

A great front door. That is Carmel - and thats all. Old hotel, small dirt rooms and bathrooms. Simply the worst and more expensive hotel in our trip through CA (we have paid 184 USD/night in a room for me, wife and 2 kids...). Disgusting is the one word to describe this hotel. more

Having travelled to Santa Monica, as part of our three week Honeymoon, we chose this Hotel based on the it's appearance from outside, and some reviews we had read in a local magazine, we picked up in Hollywood. We were checked in by some rather rude front desk staff, and from then on the one night stay got worse and... more

Disgusting hotel. I found hair on the pillows and the comforter of the bed. It smells really bad, and it is terribly noise. I have absolutely NOTHING good to say about this hotel, except maybe that it is cheap. more

We stayed for two nights in this hotel and because it was during the quiet season we got a king suite for $99 per night. The location is fantastic, near both the beach and 3rd street. The hallway is a little musty with old orange carpets and wood-chipped wallpaper but the room itself seemed nice and clean with a king... more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel over christmas. The location of the hotel was great, literally minutes from 3rd street promenade and restaurants and bars, and short walk to the beautiful beach and famous Santa Monica pier. The staff were very friendly and for the price we paid we were very happy. The room had 2 comfy king... more

Hotel had excellent location and the room was nice (honestly). We did not expect anything fancy for the price (under 100 dollars) which was excellent. Hotel is old and that you can see from the corridors. Exterior has been refurbished. Valet parking was 12 dollars, but we are not used to using it so we used the parking hall right... more

ok first of all let me just say that the location of this hotel is excellent. everything you need is in comfortable walking distance...shopping/good eats/pier/the beach. So as far as location goes it is great. No complaints there, but this hotel is very VERY deceiving on its website/room photos. The rooms online look really decent, but once you get into... more
