it s an ok hotel. But before u decide to stay at yhis hotel u should make sure what u want. If u love luxury this one is not your cup of tea. Even though it not a luxury one, location is great people who work there quite nice. The most important thing it s not too expensive like others.... More

I travel the world for work and decided to stop by Santa Monica to catch up with a friend. The location is a big plus, the staff are friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. The rooms and bath room are clean, bed is comfortable and the whole room is very comfortable. Whilst you don't have the luxurious trappings of a higher... More

This place was perfect for our family! The staff and location were beyond ideal. The front desk representative, Jermaine, was wonderful. He was patient, detailed and helped with "things to do" ideas! Love him! We were perfectly located and right in The Promenade area. We will definitely return!

Carmel Hotel is an old structure with attractive exterior and nice lobby. The best thing about the hotel is its amazing location close to everything that Santa Monica has to offer. However with an amazing location comes street and partying noise. We asked for a 4th level room overlooking the street and were able to sleep during the night. The... More

I stayed at the Hotel Carmel during the Christmas week in 2004. The location is fabulous, within walking distance to all the amenities such as one block to the Santa Monica Place mall, two blocks to the beach and the Pier (!), two blocks to the Third Street Promenade and you can hop on a bus to the boutiques along... I stayed one night at Hotel Carmel after reservations at another hotel fell through. I was a little nervous about staying at Hotel Carmel as its's so close to the Third Street Promenade. The hotel itself is ok and suitable for an overnight. The downsides: the walls are thin, there was no hair dryer or iron in the room (but... More

Thanks for considering staying at Hotel Camel when the other reservations you had fell through. I'm glad you found our location worked well for you. We are right around the corner from the Third Street Promenade as well as world class shopping and dining. We must have missed replacing the iron as we do include them with the ironing board.... This hotel is way better than its rating. We had really friendly service and decent range of free breakfast pastries. That’s before you consider the excellent position. 5 minutes walk from pier one direction, shops and bars the other this has to be an excellent budget choice in SM

First of all it was hard to find the entrance to park the car as they have no car park, you just pull up on the busy road and they valet your car. They place is quite old as it's one of the first hotels in Santa Monica to be built. Didn't like how the man on the desk said... More

Hello Andrew, Thank you for staying with us. I'm not sure why one of my associates would suggest a honeymoon suite as we actually don't have that room type. I have been staying at Carmel a couple of times. The location when visiting LA is great! A few minutes walk to St Monica Pier and Beach. Easy valet parking for trips around The city with Carmel as a base. St Monica is a nice and calm area. The Hotel is clean and affordable. It's not a fiwe Star Hotel... More

Hotel is in a great location. Rooms/lobby smell like piss literally. The sheets are itchy, AC didn't work and neither did the WiFi. The front desk let random people call us at 7am looking for their family members as well cleaning service came at 8:30 and walked in even though we had a sign on the door knob. Worst hotel... More

Your review is very disappointing and I'm sorry your stay with us was considered such a bad experience. I'm really not sure what smell you are referring to and I have never heard anyone that has stayed with us mention itchy sheets. Your privacy should have been respected and if you had the do not disturb sign on the door,... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
