Just returned from vacation in southern california and a stay at the fairmont. While the location was perfect, I was surprised by the poor service we received (i stayed 5 days). The check in was so slow, it was painful. The check in took about 16 minutes as the personnel would stare at the computer screen and then go to... More

This hotel more than lived up to its reputation and we had no complaints with our 4 night stay. Yes, it is a bit more expensive and we parked across the street to avoid the parking charges but it felt like a treat. The swimming pool area is lovely and the service from the pool staff very good. I'd also... More

I stayed here last week on a short business trip from New Zealand to California. The property is well located just across the road from Santa Monica beach and a close walk to the Pier. The check in process was smooth and I was well looked after. The room was very comfortable but could certainly do with some improvements over... More

The Fairmont Miramar Hotel is a fabulous hotel! We have traveled to many places across the world and always stay at 5 star hotels. The service that this hotel provided us has put many of the 5 stars to shame. This is a top-notch hotel and was impressed with the service before we arrived! I made our reservations directly over... Unless you are going to stay at Shutters or Casa Del Mar, this is by far the best choice for a hotel by the pier. The pictures online are not deceiving, and if you have stayed in Farimont hotels before you will not be disappointed. The service is excellent, the grounds are beautiful. The only minor annoyance was the lack... More

I have stayed at several Fairmonts and have high expectations - this property exceeded them. The staff and service was professional, gracious at check-in and throughout our short stay. The Manager and several staff members quickly acted on our call to successfully retrieve a wallet left in the room after check-out, which isn't a surprise, but was much appreciated. The... More

We spend 5 nights at the Fairmont. The only way for me to describe it was that it felt like a paradise oasis within a bustling city. Our initial room was small, which we didn't mind. The bed however, was an extremely uncomfortable spring mattress (not what you expect from a Fairmont chain). Upon complaining, we were told that the... More

My husband and I, plus 16 year old daughter stayed for 4 nights (we had the pay for 3 get 4 nights deal). Location perfect for 3rd street promenade - not so good for the pier or beach. Hotel looks beautiful, everyone very efficient, except for one or two small problems with concierge sending us to gas station that was... More

We stayedat the Fairmont for two nights before heading down for a week at the beach. The hotel is very nice however the room we had with a pool view was pretty small. They offer either 1 king bed or 2 double beds so with a family of 4, we had to go with the double bed option. We brought... More

This is by far the best hotel I have EVER stayed at. The service is top notch, location excellent, and scenery awesome. I stayed here for two nights on my honeymoon and it was a great experience. They delivered complimentary Champaign and chocolate dipped strawberrys to our room because we were on our honeymoon. I could not speak highly enough... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
